Stumbled across this article, couldn’t find a Media Release on their website or the ASX, but that’s some rather hefty cut backs out of Adelaide.

One has to wonder if we’ll see some changes from Qantaslink to increase some frequencies on some of the SA routes.

Interestingly they seem to have avoided scrutiny on their fleet renewal plans, or rather seemingly lack of…

Rex slashes regional flights across eastern Australia

I know of a Rex pilot who is now in the US flying for the AA right seat
$200k in USD + $50k sign on bonus

Further capacity cuts across the NSW regional network until March 2024, including the temporary suspension of Armidale services. In the Far North, Bamaga services will be withdrawn.

In typical Rex fashion, they’re blaming Qantas. This time for the “relentless pillaging” of the pilot group.

Rex to scale back services in regional New South Wales, Queensland citing 'relentless pillaging' of its pilot pool

Perhaps Qantas is offering pilots better pay and conditions? 🤷‍♂️

Whilst the current incarnation of QF is not a patch on what it was, the difference between the potential career paths in the two airlines is vast. Nobody will stay in Rex if they have an alternative with a more major airline. But, I’m surprised, they haven‘t rung me to see if I’m interested.

A recent reddit post asked the question of pay:

Someone found their EBA and dug up a base pay of $61k per year increase to $73k in the same first office rank after 10 years.

Also mentioned that ~$80k is the current training cost of their cadet ship program which has to be repaid over time.

I'd love to know what % of rex's regional pilots (if any) moved onto their own 737 fleet...
From what I’ve heard, fleet progression within the Rex Group as a whole is pretty much non-existent, or very limited at best.

Rex have very quietly announced that the regional service reductions that were implemented during 2023, will be extended.

They're blaming post-COVID supply chain issues which are impacting their ability to source spare parts, especially spare engine parts.

Regional service reductions are now in effect until 27th October 2024.

Wouldn't be a Rex press release without multiple subtle digs at Qantas 😂
