Hi Guys,

I'm velocity gold however I will be flying Rex from Mel to Mount Gambier, is there any association with Velocity? Can I use the lounge in Melbourne? Points etc

Ok, so despite what is being listed on Rex's website no association;

"Rex has joined forces with Virgin Australia to provide regional travellers with a convenient and cost effective method of flying around the country. Passengers flying on Rex from regional centres to Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney will be able to remain in the same terminal and connect smoothly to their Virgin Australia destination or vice versa, without the hassle of handling their own bags in between."

They interline baggage that is all it means.
If I fly VA MCY-MEL and then switch to Rex to fly to BWT then I don't have to pick up my bags in MEL they go from VA to Rex.nothing more.

That's the interline agreement you've posted

Sadly, their partnership doesn't go past interlining of baggage - A proper code-share partnership, and Velocity FF makes sense though, from my layman's perspective at least :)

Enjoy your flight with Rex, they're a great little airline - friendly staff, very professional & their catering from memory was very adequate.

Pretty sure they were tied up FF wise a few years ago
Alas, not any more

They were quite a few years ago in previous incarnations, VA back then was known as Ansett (!) and Rex as Kendall and Hazelton :-)

More seriously, Rex and Virgin were never had FF program linkages, I joined both when they started their respective programs. Now of course, Rex doesn't even have a FF program as they discontinued RexFlyer a couple of years ago.

Hi beni, I have been flying BNE - ADL then across to Kingscote on REX, I always front up to the Virgin Lounge, explain I `ve just arrived on a VA flight but have onward travel booked on REX, never been refused entry, hopefully tomorrow afternoon will be the same!

That would be cause as a SG you get arrivals access subject to space, its on the lounge terms and conditions.

Agree very friendly and professional, though cabins are cramped, & chilly before take-off at 6am in the morning as no heating when engines off, and catering very basic - water, tea/coffee, sweet/savoury (chips or biscuit), and (in evenings) $6.50 alcohol. A nice touch is that one of the pilots always stands at bottom of stairs during departure & landing. The poor pilot last week got a ribbing because he looked so young, but assured us that he was 27 years old (!).

A lot of their pilot's are around that age. Best mates is going through captain training with them now at 27, looks maybe 24.

Yes correct, been cheeky enough to go the next day as well when I haven't flown VA and been admitted.
