RFID Baggage Tags coming?

Virgin have installed RFID equipment on the baggage line in Melbourne, given their membership cards are already chipped I wonder if self bag drop is not far off?

Get rid of the awful queues and the virgin check in dragons at all the major ports. Regional ports I'm not so fussed.

This does sound exciting. I'm wondering whether they'll do this in DRW too. The bag drop queue is usually unattended when I get there, or there is a twit in front of me who has 10 little bags when they are only entitled to one.

Markis10 - do you know how DRW will lay out their common use area as part of redevelopment? Will we see common use bag drop/robots like in European Air Ports, or is that too hard for Australia?
