I saw this fare advertised in today's herald sun in their escape section but for the life of me cannot find this fare over the next 3 months of travel on their website...

Anyone?

Their inaugural MEL flight is not until Mar 29, 2011. Maybe they haven't loaded the fares yet.
The flight to LHR goes via Brunei and DXB; and you can stop over at either of these locations - credit to Asia Miles is possible, maybe VS Flying Club too.

Nice airfare but that would be one long, dry, trip for those wishing to have a drink or two.

Has anyone had any experience crediting to either, preferably Flying Club, FF program?

Sorry, I still don't see it

Well, I really don't care how "cheap" their fares might be, I would never be desperate enough to fly them.

For not much more than $1300, I fly to Asia on a cheap fare using an LCC and then on to Europe using a proper airline that has a reasonable FF program (like QF).

Works for me, and saves about $400 over a fare ex AU (Royal Brunei notwithstanding).

Forgetting the lack of alcohol and FF program, what makes them so bad?

For the price they offer, they seem to be reasonable (this is also based on reviews from others)

If you are flexible with dates and as long as they are flying where and when you want to go they are actually quite good.

They do have a FF Program but no airline partners. The FF program is a lot more generous than QF's but then again most FF programs are.

I like that you can upgrade on request as long as you have the points.

They won't suit everybody but they do offer good value for money.

So is Royal Brunei a partner of VS Flying Club or is Asia Miles the only recognisable FF program partner?

The Royal Brunei site does not show them being part of Asia Miles, but the Asia Miles site does.

I wonder why.

Do you know if Asia Miles is any good??

Asia Miles is purely a points program, not status, when you couple it with Marco Polo Club (Cathay’s mileage program), they can give status too, but it has it’s drawbacks, as do all programs ;)

Asia Miles is very good for award redemptions but as samh004 mentioned not good for status.

Anyway I am not looking for status just for cheaper ways to get to SE Asia and if I can get points for the flights somewhere iuseful then all the better.

Not really interested in FF programs with limited partners.

Plus Asia Miles also has a 3-year expiry on miles, no matter what activity you’ve had.
