well the other half and myself are off to Koh Samui in June and are booked with Thai Airways. Have been looking around the forums and noted they have a 1:1mile ratio. the trip is from melb-bangkok-koh samui and return. Is only economy (V)

Any info would be great.

Also they have a section on Royal Orchid that say's[TABLE="width: 81%"]

"If another ROP member recommended that you join the programme, please state their ROP Number:"

Does that person recommended get anything for this? If so does anyone want to recommend

thanks

Unfortunately, V is not an earning class for international flights, so your MEl-BKK-vv flights will earn zero miles. BKK-USM-vv, being domestic flights, will earn 1:1, but that will just earn you 288 miles each way. If you're not planning to travel on Star Alliance airlines again in the near future, it might not be worth your while joining for that.

Haven't heard of any recommender bonuses, but there might be something there.

just checked the rest of the flights and my bangkok to koh samui is economy (h) and return also but then the bangkok to melb is economy (q)

So, if you're saying that the classes are:
MEL-BKK (V) - no FF points
BKK-USM (H) - 288 FF points
USM-BKK (H) - 288 FF points
BKK-MEL (Q) - 4546 FF points

(points are just my estimates based on gcmap.com)

then, you'll have around 5000 FF points from this trip. If more travel is planned in the next couple of years (ROP points expire after 3 years), then do join up.

Pity MEL-BKK was booked in V - it looks like it would only have cost $50 more to book that in Q as well, and get full 1:1 points for that flight.

Thanks for the reply an*g-bne.

hrmm i wonder if i can change that flight. Mate works at travel joint might give her a call.

Not worth it in my opinion. Are you going to be doing any future flying in the next couple of years? If so you my be better off going with Agean to try and get star gold status.
