RTW Oneworld fare $6.90 per SC

Well, there's no nonstop oneworld flight between YVR and HEL, so they need another flight there, via LHR most likely.
That price doesn't sound right for a oneworld ticket. The J oneworld RTW tickets start at $12000 AUD ex AU.

Chances are this isn't a oneworld fare, it's likely a Finnair product.

Apparently all airlines in itinerary are one world and will have SC credited to QF . It was via a TA. I’ll enquire a bit more about the actual sectors. I think the SYD-YVR may also involve a multi stop as well - maybe QF-AA or AA-AA via LAX.

Friend maintains its 900 SC but I don’t think so - more like approx 700-800 to me depending if any actual QF metal or QF marketed is involved

He wants to go to WP as he has 1.5m QF points to burn and luckily for him all these flights plus some others are all ATO friendly

The routing you gave indicates it is a AY fare. These exist all the time.

Update - friend says its a QF marketed RTW ticket:

SYD-SFO ((SFO-PHX-YVR-PHX-SFO)) SFO-HEL-BCN-HEL-BKK-SYD.

There is a nonstop SFO-HEL in June.

It was apparently booked via TA. RTW tickets are not easily booked on QF website. The website multicity function usually not to give the cheapest option anyway.

2 tickets:
(a) RTW: SYD-SFO-HEL-BCN-HEL-BKK-SYD
(b) Nested Domestic: SFO-PHX-YVR-PHX-SFO

Can't see any sign of this fare on ExpertFlyer if it really is from QF.. ask the TA what the fare basis is please :D

Qantas does have their own RTW fares, but generally sends people off to book oneworld xONEx's.
The main QF RTW fare that I'm aware of is the "Walkabout", which allows QF, BA and AA (and maybe 1 or 2 others), but it doesn't appear to be bookable for Australian departures. (The naming of this product is confusing, because QF also has a "Walkabout Pass" for AU/NZ domestic travel)
(a) RTW: SYD-SFO-HEL-BCN-HEL-BKK-SYD
That also appears to be missing a flight. There are no non stop SFO-HEL flights. (looks like AY had a seasonal flight for northern summer 2017, but it doesn't appear to be confirmed for this year)

there is a 3x weekly seasonal nonstop AY SFO-HEL (AY12 A330-300 service) non stop in June (HEL-SFO is AY11)
Finnair Launching Seasonal Flights To San Francisco - One Mile at a Time
I suppose as it’s a seasonal it may well turn into a one stop via JFK if not continued. Though AY is selling AY11/12 on their website for June 2018

This is an interesting option to get to Europe from OZ with a 2 piece luggage allowance. Or another way to get to JFK in the northern summer using the 1 stop SFO-JFK-HEL (AA-AY) though not connecting directly from QF73 as it departs at 0800

Apologies. I’m trying to tease out as much info as possible without appearing to be too nosey

There has been discussion on what TAs can concoct on some other threads. Last year my TA priced RTW: MEL- SIN- FRA- OSL//SVR- MAN- FRA- IAD- LAX- MEL on LH/Star Alliance and MEL- SIN- HEL- OSL//SVR- MAN- HEL- IAD-LAX- MEL on AY/OneWorld with LH coming out the winner at about $6.8K IIRC. The AY fare was about 1K more. I don't think there was any particular fare basis - it was just a combination of LH early bird fares and I think I got a routing rule exception somewhere along the way.

For the OP's itinerary, I get about 960 SCs in full business and with QF sectors to start and finish. But more likely to be discount business in QF, but that only trims 10 SCs off.

I'd query if the side trips are included in the $6,200 fare.

I'm also very interested in a very convoluted OW routing for a business trip to SAN in Sept in order to attain Platinum.

Which TA would be willing to help with this? I'm hoping this is achievable for around $6k.

It was an AY sale fare which ended 08/01. It's about $7.5k year-round when not on sale.

Does the ticket number start with 081- ?
Friend says sale ended 8/1 - so maybe ties in with what madrooster stated above with the AY sale. Will see what ticket number codes says.
Friend gone off air for the time being camping in Tasmania.
The non stop SFO-HEL is less appealing to me than the usual SFO-JFK-HEL itinerary wise and I suspect hard product wise

In any case it’s a excellent fare for SC harvesting sale or no sale. And the itinerary is not so convoluted - does not even look like a MR itinerary - just a normal RTW fare

It was an AY sale fare that ended 8/1. I took a look at it to book some travel for July. Very tempting routing.
