Came across this one with Bestflights after seeing it on the Flight Centre advert this morning 'Business class from' $6,552. Still waiting for a call back from FC rep.

Swissair deal allows three stop overs, can be via Asia in both directions.

Availablity was reasonable within 1 day of my planned travel dates, although those 1 day extras do add up so we are tossing up whether the quick 2 week trip becomes 3 weeks.

This fare lets you go both ways via US.

If you are collecting QF SCs you are allowed to fly SYD-JFK-SYD all on Qantas QF107/108.

QF flights are in D, Swiss (LX?) is in Z

One non stop flight number from Aus to Asia - eg SYD-BOM was longest flight I could find or US eg SYD - JFK

It is a fare that is not often used,

Finnair have something similar except that you have to fly via Asia both ways. On Finnair you get SCs all the way for QFF.

I assume the following would be OK?

SYD-JFK (QF), JFK-BCN (LX), BCN-SIN(LX), SIN-ADL(QF) - Stopping JFK, BCN and SIN?

From JFK I could use AeroMexico Airpass for JFK-GDL/MEX-JFK quite cheaply..

When are you going? We're flying high season (middle July 09) and got a similar fare (quoted SwissAir, but ended up taking Qantas/AA/JAL OneWorld) for $2000 each less than that. Trip is MEL-SYD-SFO, SFO-NY, NY-Paris, Paris-Tokyo, Tokyo-SYD-MEL.

Let me know if you want the details.

That looks fine - you just need to check that LX flies from ZRH to SIN (I'm unsure)

Yes, please what was your base fare?

Was it a companion deal and is all of it in business class?

forgive my NOOB question, but should I post them here for everyone? Or by email/PM?
I think the netiquette answer would be that if you are not comfortable making them public then you should PM them to interested parties. We in turn would then maintain that confidentiality until it otherwise finds its way into the public domain.

PS: also gives me a coupleof hours headstart to book it...lol

Well, I don't think there is anything *particularly* private about where or what we're doing, so I'll try and give you info that's useful here.

Info current as of our booking (late Jan 09). We used Best Flights (Felicity was great) and considered 2 main quotes. The SwissAir flights were cheap Economy as we never travel in Business, all 'L' class, but all the transit through Europe took us to Zurich. We had no interest in going there, nor having to fly there, then off to say Paris, and then back thru Zurich, before heading back on our way. We preferred a more direct route. And they also couldn't get us from SFO to NY - we would have had to make our own way on that one. So although really reasonable (about AUS$3174 incl all taxes), it didn't work for our 3 week itinerary.

The alternative flight was the 'limited miles' RTW One World flights. We chose the under 30,000 miles ticket, which meant we could fly direct, on exactly the itinerary we wanted (as previously outlined). Total ticket price was AUS$4067 each.

I hope that's of some use to you all? Let me know if you need anything else?

Ok. I didn't make it clear on my OP. Swiss have an all business fare being advertised around the $6k mark.

I do agree however after trying to chase around for the various available classses and changing dates etc, sometimes it is just worth paying to fly exactly when you want to!
