Hi Guys

This is my first post, so please excuse me for being an absolute novice. I want to travel from Sydney to Chicago / Appleton (Wisconsin, USA) and then to New Delhi. Would love to have the option of spending a few days in Europe in between (from Chicago / Appleton to London / Zurich / anywhere in Europe) before finally flying to New Delhi and then flying back to Sydney.
Owing to the fact that my itinerary is all over the place....most of the specialists i've been to (Flight centre, student flights, sta.....) dont have something substantial to offer me. I am looking for the cheapest option :)
PLEASE HELP....i have got to fly out in next two weeks...

I'm surprised they cant find you anything.

Howe a look at a oneworld around the world (10% off currently!) routing from SYD-Chicago-LHR-DXB or AMM - Delhi-SIN-SYD.

Al alternative would be same first part, but go LHR-SIN-SYD with a side trip to Delhi.

Also, can I suggest perhaps go to a better travel agent if the ones you are going to cant do a routing that's not that complicated!

DXB-BOM goes daily with CX
AMM-BOM is 3 times per week on RJ
BOM-SYD is 3 times per week, but I think Qantas just announced today that they will cease this flight in April.
There is always BOM-HKG (or BKK)on CX

Hi Guys

PLEASE HELP....i have got to fly out in next two weeks...

This is your problem - explorer fares book into discount fare buckets which often sell out ahead of time and some need to be ticketeed 10 days before travel so may not be an option. What class of travel are you considering?

I think there is ORD-DEL on AA also - being daily and LHR-DEL Mon-Sat

so easy options would be:

syd-lax(QF)-ord(AA)-lhr-del(BA)-hkg(CX)-syd(QF/CX)

Swissair has a cheap business class fare which would allow you to go SYD-Chicago on United [staying on the 1 flight number]

Chicago - Zurich - plus one return flight within Europe

Zurich - India (possible Bombay, so make your own way to Dehli).

Bombay-Sydney on Qantas.

I'm sure they would also offer this in economy class.

A trial subscription at expertflyer . com will tell you the availability of L class (economy) or D class (business) on the particular route segments. Just select the oneworld alliance.

I would venture (without checking) that L class is probably available though perhaps not on the most convenient connections or the best frequent flyer mileage earnings.

Remember that you would be using well under the allowed 16 segments and routings like SYD-HNL-LAX-MIA-ORD-DFW-LHR-CAI-AMM-DEL-HKG-SIN-PER-SYD (or some portion thereof substituted) would have only a minor tax/time penalty.

Happy wandering

Fred

Also avoids the disgusting UK APD...

Being a OW fan, if you wish to avoid LHR try the following

SYD-HNL-LAX-MIA-ORD-DFW-FRA-AMM-DEL-HKG-SIN-PER-SYD (or some portion thereof substituted)

DFW-FRA-AMM-DEL does connect on the proper days with the only excessive wait in FRA.

Thanks heaps guys...

after shopping around a fair bit, almost finalizing the following route:

Syd--LA--Chicago---London--New Delhi--Sydney

Booking through STA, approx. $3000

Feedback??

Hey...would you guys also be able to help me with info on travel insurance. I have travel insurance through my credit card (Westpac Altitude Gold). Do ya reckon its better to pay for another travel insurance (was quoted $300) through STA??

My only comment is do not buy from STA. I pay $250 for an Annual Policy (each trip must be less than 90 days).

Is this with OW or *A or other?
Where is the stop(s) (and the carrier) between Delhi and Sydney?
