RTW ticket Brisbane to UK vis South America

We are going to the UK next year and would like to have a stop over in South America on the way there or back and visit one more country at least. I am a Qantas frequent flyer and would like to gain/use points on this trip. Am I better to book a RTW fare or book each flight separately ? Any suggestions for airlines, routes please ?

auspal, there are certainly a few different options to consider. They depend on many things - for example:

- do you have "lots" of QFF points that you can burn?
- how many pax, and what is your QFF status? these really impact award availability
- do you want to get lots of status credits? there is a way to do that
- are you interested in only business or only economy travel?

etc etc

Just two early ideas and options:

1.- basic trip, earning QFF points: get a return ticket to Peru or Chile etc from LATAM (previously LAN). Get another return ticket from there to London on either LAN, Iberia, or via the USA on American.

2.- Maxing SC (to get you to WP in one trip) - ticket 1 J on Jetstar to Hawaii, ticket 2 in F (dom) on AA HNL to anywhere in Carribean, ticket 3 J on AA from there to Europe, and ticket 4 whatever sidetrips you want to Sth America
