I know theres been threads on this in the past but I'm hoping to get the most up to date info.

I recall reading a while about utilising points with a pseudo rtw 5 stopper but since the rules are different you can go back in directions which you normally can't do with a global explorer etc.

Basically I'm trying to see if its possible to do something like this itinerary (which effective is two trips broken up by a couple of months:

BNE-BKK
BKK-SYD
SYD-LAX
get my own way to vegas via couple of other places
Vegas-JFK
JFK-LHR
LHR-BNE

Doesn't let you book this online due going back to the origin, which it actually doesn't...

Assuming you're referring to the Qantas RTW award, you won't be able to do this itinerary as you can only depart from the origin country once. Applicable rule below.

14.3.5 A Classic Award Itinerary must contain no more than one departure from the city or country of first departure on that Itinerary.

If you buy a separate ticket to BKK and start your RTW from there the rest of your itinerary should be valid.

Thanks. One other thing I'm getting confused with, is this 5 stop 140,000 point RTW the same as the zone10 OW FF point option I see people posting about ?

Thanks Serft. Instead of reviving that thread i'll post my Q here. In that thread someone suggesting the routing
It would be possible, for example to do the following:
CBR-SYD-SIN(s)-MEL(s)-SIN-BKK(s)-SYD(s)-HKG(s)-BNE-CBR if you wanted three returns to Asia from east coast over twelve months, as long as you got BA & CX onto the itinerary in this example.
based on the rule pointed out above, I can't see how you can do that routing.

Qantas revised the rules at some stage. (14.3.5)

Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Terms & Conditions:
...

14.3.5 A Classic Award Itinerary must contain no more than one departure from the city or country of first departure on that Itinerary.
...

14.5.1
A oneworld Award is a Classic Award Itinerary that includes travel on at least two oneworld Alliance Airlines other than Qantas and does not include any travel on any airline that is not a oneworld Alliance Airline.

14.5.2
Classic Awards using the oneworld Classic Award table must be no more than a distance of 56,315 kilometres (35,000 miles). Longer journeys must be broken into separate Itineraries.

14.5.3 A one way oneworld Award Itinerary will be charged as a return Itinerary. oneworld Award Itineraries finishing in a port other than the port of origin must include the distance to return directly to the port of origin when calculating the number of Points required to redeem the Flight Award and the maximum distance for the Itinerary.

14.5.4 The following Stopover conditions apply:
(a) up to five free Stopovers are permitted;
(b) additional Stopovers are not permitted;
(c) only one Stopover is permitted in any one city in the Itinerary; and
(d) only two Transfers may be taken at any one city in the Itinerary.
In any case, the following would be valid routes:

SIN-xHKG-MEL-xHKG-NRT-SYD-HKG-BNE-xMEL-SIN

AKL-xSYD-SIN-MEL-HKG-BNE-xSIN-BKK-xSYD-AKL

These routings complie with the transfer/stopover constraints that you cannot transit any port more than twice nor stopover more than once, nor have more than five stopovers.
