Any change that offers an improvement over and above the current tiers would be great. Any change that increase the benefits of the current tiers would be great. Any change that reduces the benefits of the current tiers would be a disaster.

Here's a suggestion for you for WP benefits-how about discounted business class fares? For example-your current fare rates for business in the 73's are....how do I put this politely...crazy!! Melbourne to Rarotonga $2,300 return??? 99% of people flying to Rara would be a family or couple on a holiday-why would they spend a minimum $5k on airfares in a 737?? A family of 3 would cost $7k-heck most people would just go economy, or fly premium to L.A. But by offering a reduced rate you would entice more uptake, improve utilisation and provide a improved benefit to WP flyers. Anyway something along those lines.

I cant see someone earning 2700 SCs pa on QF metal as a cost centre. Suspect the average P1 is quite profitable

P1 as the central team is a cost center. It clearly was not set up to stimulate additional flight activity and turn plats into plat1s. The only other logical thought is the purpose serves to lower the attrition of high frequency, high value customers. And we all know how this has played out. Therefore, P1 as a team is a giant waste of resources.

VA may not have his same problem as people leave the program earlier. Therefore not as many super SC earners to look after.

while the pricing of fake business class on a 737 to rarotonga seems crazy (even to me) , discounting fares for Plats seems equally daft. The argument from VA would be that you're not the intended target audience if $7k for the family seems unreasonable. Perhaps it's designed to make economy fares look more attractive and therefore sells more Y than they otherwise ever would? Many factors play into pricing.

At QF, the front rows of Y were already blocked from WP selection so they were able to open those rows up to P1.

Not sure what you mean, but on a 737 WP were able to allocate row 4 at time of booking, until P1.

Interesting that VFF commented on this thread so quickly... to downplay the rumour....

One possible explanation is they get enough MEL-AKL traffic and AKL-RAR traffic that they don't have the need to discount MEL-RAR, just to fill seats. We are not yield managers though, so who knows.
