Hi,

I am just wondering if anyone out there has any idea if and when there could be a sale fare to USA for mid next year (May/June 2010) for Qantas.... any one heard on the grapevine or through contacts.. :) :)

Thats the question we all want to know. QF dosn't start these cheap Y sales, its usually VA then QF follows. Notice they are now up in the $1150~ region, and I think they will stay at this now.

I would say by mid-late November we might see something re 2010 sales.

what are teh $1150 fare? with V Australia, what dates?

I see they are only from now to the end of Feb 2010, with Xmas blackouts. Its going to be a waiting game I think.

AirNZ has Melb-Ackland-SanFrancisco for $1280 to $1350 in late March and early April. VAustralia was (iirc) $1212 for Melb-LA nonstop for March/April. I don't know what you think is cheap or if fares will go lower???

On Feb 28, MEL-LAX return is $1450 - On March 1st the same route is $2380!

These have basically been similar for several weeks though (although the March price has come down a hundred or so).

You can also book AirNZ currently LAX-MEL-LAX (Via AKL) from May to 8th Jun for ~USD800 (~AUD885).

(Feb/March ~AUD960)

Qantas just posted a new sale that dropped MEL-LAX by about $1000 (from last week's price) travelling around late March.

L.

I have been watching these fares closely as we want to go to the US in March. Until today, the fares had been discounted up to Feb 28 but no later.

Now this has changed; MEL-LAX rt Late March dropped from ~$2400 to ~$1300; February went up from ~$1200 to ~$1300.

The sub (just) $1000 AUD MEL-LAX fares will not be coming back. Still $1300 is a great price.

Not really, when I can and do fly LHR-LAX-MEL round trip in (upgraded) business class for less than that. Have bought 4 tickets for that price for 2010.

This week purchased mid march departure LAX-AKL-MEL rt on AirNZ for 2 PASSENGERS @AUD1975 (USD1780) all up; that's $975 each.

These are Upgradeable fares.

Hey Stryker care to share where you found this amazing, almost to good to be true deal?

In a thread about sale fares TO the USA what possible use is it to quote fares ex-LHR or LAX?

International fares are never the same from both ends...

Sure, some of us take advantage by nesting returns "ex-somewhere else" but the OP was clearly not asking about that.....

Well maybe the OP could learn something useful then.

Isn't this what this board is supposed to be about?

Not on QANTAS, but some cheap mid year fares are now appearing for Air NZ and VA.
