Hi all
I'm a new member - thanks for your terrific insights on the FF programs.
Am looking to go to Canada in July and trying to decide whether to use FF points (MEL-LAX via BNE) or buy a sale price fare to Vancouver (MEL-LAX to Vancouver via Alaska Airlines - partner) which says you MAY earn points on this. Can anyone clarify whether this flight earns points at normal or reduced rate or not at all?
Thanks Kay

Flights on Alaskan Airlines within the US/Canada only earn points (never earn SCs), and could also be dependant on the fare type that you buy. AA are av ery interesting airline to fly with - just be careful of the hommous - I think they use it to fuel their planes (and snacks only in 1st class, not in Y).

Thanks Jetlagged for your comments - I shall avoid the houmus - interesting take on regional cuisine. Do I earn full FF points on the MEL-LAX leg?

If you fly Alaskan Airlines on an AA ticket you can/do earn QF SCs if you have your QF FF number in the booking.
