Hi all,

Have a booking Star Class booking which includes domestic economy legs. The ticket says the fare type is "Starclass" for all legs, do I still SC earn on those domestic economy legs? is it on full economy earn of starclass earn? or nothing at all?

regards,

Paul C

Are you flying on QF or JQ metal and are they JQ or QF numbers?

But yes star class earns SC's.

You earn full economy credits on the legs booked into economy as part of a star class fare, as if it was a jet flex flight.

Woo, my OH has just booked a star class fare ADL-KUL return via MEL and SIN (current star class promo), thinking he'd earn jet flex SCs for ADL-MEL and SIN-KUL (also confirmed so by the JQ booking agent on the phone). However, his official confirmation/itinerary now says that those 2 flights are on Jet saver fares, not jet flex. He is not happy

So he's been on the phone with 2 different staff. The first staff was so incompetent and didn't know what they were talking about (quote from my OH). The second told him all legs were in the same class of "star class HTL"

Any ideas and suggestions?

Same story. Did ADL-MEL-SIN in star class the other day, the ADL-MEL ended up being a jet saver fare and posting with 0 SC.

Considering forwarding initial printout from website showing the fare basis as star class for both sectors to qantas frequent flyer and requesting they review the points... but it does seem like a lot of effort for few SC.

Hi Tim,

In my experience you can earn *Class business SCs for domestic segments if the JQ metal flight departs any International terminal and does a domestic leg as part of it's overall international journey.

There are no *Class sectors domestically to the international departure point that I have seen, even if the JQ booking form say they are *Class. The JQ booking engine does clearly say when the domestic legs are in Economy.

When JQ first started the *Class business they did offer QF Business on the domestic sectors to connect to the international departure point but I have not seen that happening for the last few years. They may still do that but I suspect those flights would be the first to be booked.

Same question, different scenario. Looking at changing a JQ booking, and one of the options is a JQ codeshare in J on QF metal, and *class the rest of the way.

The website says that the QF sector will be in J, so I assume it is J SC's the whole way

Anyone experience issues with baggage allowance on the domestic v international sectors? In 2 wks, I'm on BNE-SYD-HNL (BNE/SYD on JetSaver fare and SYD/HNL on *class fare) sold as one PNR. Does this mean I have 20kg limit on the domestic sector and 30kgs on international sector? Going for a golf week and need the bigger allowance.

Thanks.

BF

When you check in they will see you have a star class flight that day meaning you will get the star class bag limits. On the way back it will be the same, they will see you came from star class and all will be fine. :)

Yes there won't be any issues here. I find electronic scales very good for sticking to limits. I just don't like discussions regarding excess baggage.

I have won most of them, but it's a hassle I just don't need these days.

A quick update. OH sent an email to Simon Westaway explaining the situation. OH has since got a prompt response from Mr Westaway and the isuse has been followed up quickly by two of his JQ colleagues, who provided us with pretty clear information that the domestic legs of this star class booking are eligible for SCs. Hopefully the points and SCs will be properly posted in OH's QF account after the travel.

I just stumbled on this thread after posting a very similar gripe on a more recent thread started by docjames. The two call centre staff I spoke to were unhelpful (as expected). I was about to send a letter off to Customer service, which from experience means about a 1 month wait for a possibly unsatisfactory resolution.

Who is Simon Westaway? He sounds important. Does your OH have some sort of inside connection to be able to email him directly, or is s/he just ballsy and decided to skip the normal channels and go straight to the top?

Simon Westaway is the head of corporate relations at Jetstar. You should be able to send him a Private Message - he is a member here, with an underscore- simon_westaway.
