Hi Guys,

I am 160 SC short of Gold. From reading the threads it seems LAN is a good and cheap way of getting this as i have flown at least 4 segments on Qantas. Sydney to Auckland is $747 Return Premium Business with LAN. Am i right to assume i would get 160 SC and about 3200 FFP (with the 25% cabin bonus) and another 800 FFP due to being silver already?

Am i on the right track here or am i all wrong?

Thanks!

You are correct for the status credits. Someone else can confirm about the frequent flyer points.
Crediting of flights with LAN is a bit hit and miss, so make sure you keep your boarding pass and put in a claim for the flight if it doesn't come through in reasonable time.

You should get
Silver 2,682+672 Cabin + 672 silver =4,026 points and160 status credits.

for the return trip

$650-$750 is their standard price for a J ticket but try some options on 2 one way fares and use a NZ booking engine. They are generally a lot cheaper, but depends oon the one way fare over. The 5.50am OMG hour usually put most people off,

You may have to wait a couple of days for the points and SC to appear, as they seem a little slow and some have said they have to chase it up via QFF.

Also look at a JASA cost on QF141 if you like early mornings, they are usually well priced if you have the points (and a little) cash to spare.

Less 672 points as there is no status bonus for QFF on LAN (QF really needs to come to the party with status bonuses on all OW carriers, don't get why this is such a big deal when AA has no problem with it, especially with 100% bonus from Sapphire).

Oh ok cool. Not so fussed about the points more interested in the SC. Any other good cheap routes like this LAN one? It is quite an early start haha
