I have booked a 65SC run to go gold, (at significant personal expense, as work travel has dried up). For personal reasons I cannot take the flight at short notice, and can only refund one leg of the 3. :(

If I check in on the first flight will I still earn SC?

This is my only chance to go gold... have been PS for 4 years :(

Welcome to AFF.

In general, you should not get SC's for a segment unless the segment is actually flown - ie. the BP scanned and the seat taken in the aircraft before flying from AAA to BBB.

I wouldn't suggest it, as it's illegal now and a man in HBA was recently fined $500 for breaking the law, but if someone were to fly in your place...

FWIW I sympathise. I had a companion J fare a couple years ago I had to throw away, couldn't refund it or the companion would have been stuck. Ended up flying extra at considerable cost. Since then though, smooth sailing, or is that flying.
