Hi,

A friend of mine is trying to achieve silver by his QF membership year ended 31st July 2022.

And he needs the SC from following flights to get to his Silver status:

31st July 2022: Prague to Dubai (QF ticket operated by EK)
1st Aug 2022: Dubai to Melbourne (QF ticket operated by EK)

The 2 flights will be booked under the same booking reference

Will the SC for the 2 legs appear on 31st July or 1st Aug 2022? Or even few days later?

Any chance Qantas could allow him to achieve silver if he is only out by 1 day or few days?

Has anyone tried to request an extension from Qantas beofore?

SC will be credited to the day of scheduled departure of each flight.

Even if the SC appear a few days later (happens occasionally) they will be credited to the date on which the flight was scheduled to depart.

QF will almost certainly not bend the rules for your friend.

The first flight (31 Jul) PRG-DXB will credit for the 2022-23 membership year, the 2nd 01Aug will apply to the 2023-24 membership year regardless of when they actually post. If status is attained from that 31Jul flight then that should update appropriately.

note "QF ticket" - does this mean QF flight number? If so then SC will be earned. If EK flight numbers then no SC will be earned.

Make sure he has a QF flight number, not just a QF tix, tho.
Because, if its a QF tix, but with an EK flight number, there is only QFF points earn, and no QFF SC, QFF SC being the most important thing here.
Ask him to make 1000% sure.

That was my effort for a cut and paste.
We need more info from your friend, if its an EK or QF flight #.
From what I can deduce, it might be an EK flight number, so he will only earn a very miniscule amount of QFF points.
QF themselves do not fly that route, and not all EK flights will carry a QF flight number, sometimes EK will fly the routing, but no QF flight number at all, ie, not an option.
The QFF website also wants a log in, to be able to see how many points needed, or any other info on the PRG to MEL routings.
Usually, "use points" would just lead to the page where they list the number of points needed, and no log in needed.
Did your friend make the booking direct with EK?
Or did he phone up QF/QFF to do it?
We await your reply.
Ok, waffly off now.
Sorry, one more blah.
If a person wanted to fly that routing on a rev tix from MEL, they would be put straight through to LHR with QF, either via PER/SIN, and then onto BA in LHR.
Doesn't look good for your friend, as it might not be a QF flight number.
Heh, ahh, knowing QF's ploy, they only put the QF coded EK flights, down the bottom of the page, so if a person wanted to buy a rev ticket, turns out that yes, its possible, if leaving form MEL - DXB - PRG, but that choice is right down the bottom, so a person has to know to scroll down there on the QF booking website.

wow. thats a lot of effort! Appreciate that!

Don't worry. He will book at Qantas.com (AU) as a return ticket. It should be QF ticket with QF flight number on all legs.

I only list the return trip as the last leg will most likely fall into the new membership year.lol

Thank you again

Ok, info noted onto the brain.
So long as its a start of trip, from Au to Europe and not trying to do a trip the other way round on a first leg.
Better he knows, than coming to us on here, and saying/asking, why did I earn so few QFF points and why didn't I earn any QFF SC on an EK flight number, ...
