I am Sydney based

Currently QF Gold with 1/2/12 as my year start date. Have earnt 735 SC since then on FASA's,

Am doing FASA SYD/BKK next week return so that will get me 360SC plus a JQ35 in June (bummer didnt get the double promo for SC, so doing it the long way) with a JASA back from MEL so that's another 50 SC.

Rtn SYD/BME in August will add another 180 on JASA leaving balance of 75 SC to the finish line

I am fortunate to be points rich (generating via c/card), so I have two goals here and seek the wealth of AFF wisdom

1/ Getting to WP quickly so I can "request" Classic seats in J and F when they dont appear in the search engine (mostly for international detsinations)

So please what SC runs domestically and 3-5 days internationally (without massive time zone changes)?

Will pay for using points instead of points and taxes

2/ Whilst I am points rich should I strive to build more SC (this may be better as a separate thread??)

Many Thanks AFF

B

If all you need is an extra 75 SC then a simple JASA SYD-CBR return will do it. Or have I misunderstood your question?

Correct but I aspire to WP before August and there is also the opportunity for building lifetime SC whilst I am points rich!

tks for yr help

B

A JASA fr Syd to either Mel, Cbr, Bne return on the same day will get 80 SCs, and sort out the WP qualification issue. Building lifetime SCs is really only important if you are aspiring to Lifetime Gold, and LT Plat if that exists...

Have a look at the status run thread, a run to TSV then ex TSV would be an option if you want to rack up SCs quickly.

Many thanks for your suggestion. I am familiar with this thread inc the CBR and DRW options.

What I seek is some O/S options (probably Asia) as not a major time zone issue

To get to WP by say June 30 lets say I need an extra 300SC's by then irrespective of what occurs after that date

lets say points are no problem

So the help I seek is as follows;

Criteria would be

1 2-5 day trip
2 FASA prefered to JASA
3 A380 over a Jumbo any day

Over to Affers!:)

That thread has the OS options, especially asia which you will find hard to beat!

I've had zero luck in getting seats released in my 7 odd years of WP/WP1 - YMMV I'm starting to think it's not even real;)

I would also add that with changes to routes, AC and other OW airlines - routes that offer F are pretty limited.

I don't think overseas run are as good as what you can get in domestic. Say, you can do SYD-xBNE-TSV, then TSV-xBNE-DRW, and then return the same way for 960SCs during the double SC promotion period. You would be hard-pressed to find anything internationally that can score up that quickly for a low cost.

seek out some of the indirect Asian routes (eg SYD-PER-HKG .. no A380s)
you run out of FASA options in Asia however (RedQ may have changed this)

Some good options ex-TPE/KUL if you are willing to pay, but from memory you prefer to spend a large number of points.

I prefer points as cash is king ( id rather use cash in my business) and whilst points rich I often see it is always easy to get JASA from SYD/KUL return, so what suggestions from KUL for SC run from there?

KUL-BKK J return on Royal Jordanian can be had for RM1318 (~AU$416) and will earn 120 SCs.

Nice suggestion! Havent flown Royal Jordanian

Is it a good experience? (probably covered by another thread somehwere though!)

Which route(s) have you tried? I'm 3 from 3 WRT seat release requests since making WP - LAX-MEL in Y, SYD-LAX in J and DFW-BNE in J, all requested about 3 months out.

SYD-HGK
SYD-BKK
SYD-SIN

I suspect it has something to do with late decision to fly (around 2 months) and that I'm always looking at 4 or 5 seats in J or F. Although I did try SYD-AKL for two earlier this year which also got the knock back.

I've always ended up flying as I've just waited & booked classic award at the last minute when seats on BA or CX are dumped on the market. It's a real downer that BA are no longer doing SYD-BKK:(

Since I've started re-deeming back in 98 I'm running at 38 Int flights on CX/BA & only 12 on QF.

Suspect it'd be more to do with trying to get 4/5 seats released than anything else! Unfortunately I think that's probably asking a bit much of QF's yield managers. All of my successful requests have been for 1 pax only - I should have noted that.

Have you ever had a failure waiting until the last minute? I've been thinking about doing this for a planned trip but not sure how much I like the risk...

So far - never.

However, I must add that the choice is limited in destination & dropping fast with recent changes on the BKK route. HGK is almost a sure bet with CX 4 flights a day out of SYD plus the other ports (only J on this one:() and now that BA have pulled the plug with BKK it's a fair bet that BA SIN seats will become a rare commodity.

I've never had any luck with last minute multiply seats in QF in J or F.....of course Y always seems to be available.

Next week I'm doing a FASA last minute booking SYD-SIN-SYD on the A380 - only 1 seat as once you wanted more they all disappeared.....SWMBO is almost as angry as the kids with this one:D

Thanks for the feedback... will be sure to carefully consider the route and number of OW flights servicing it before I commit to anything.
