I've been very organised this year and have booked all my flights until December, which will see my scrape over to Gold just before my credit expiry date at the end of October.

All was well until I logged into one of my bookings today... Routing SYD-HKG-PEK on QF127 then KA, QF127 has been changed from a 747 to A330 which means I'll arrive within 40 mins of my departure to PEK. I'm guessing QF will change me onto the last KA flight which is operated by Air China... Of course, not status credit earning.

What are the chances they'll give me the credits as its as a result of a sch change? Or does that only apply if the change occurs after departure?

That is not an easy one to answer. What is the difference between a scheduled change months before a flight or a change of flight on the day of departure? I think you should get original routing credit.

For what it is worth I was due to be on a Finnair flight BKK-SIN and the flight was cancelled and I was put on a Swiss Air flight. I put in a claim to Qantas for the SCs and FF points and it was credited as if I had flown Finnair.

40 mines may be a valid connection from QF to KA ??? i have had a connection reduced to 40 mins CX to KA and it was left alone, then if you dont make it you end up on the last KA flight but then you could apply for an ORC (Original routeing credit)

They ended up changing me onto a SYD-PVG then PVG-PEK (China Eastern code share). So... at the end of the day, the status credits will work out the same.

This China trip has ended up being a massive PITA. Originally booked as a ROK-BNE-SYD then SYD-PEK the next day. The ROK-BNE sector has changed 3 times, the SYD-PEK was changed to SYD-HKG-PEK(KA) after the direct SYD-PEK was cancelled, now its SYD-PVG-PEK with an arrival time in PEK some 6 hours later than I was originally booked... all without a word of "hmm sorrry for stuffing you around" from QF. So much for booking full service airlines for reliability!

You could always have cancelled and rebooked with another carrier of course

Dave

And what would that achieve?

you may have been able to get to your destination around the time that was aiming to get there rather than 6 hours late. Don't know the schedules, but it was an option if what they offered was not ideal and there were other services
