Very wide period of validity:

1) New MANAGE YOUR BOOKING tool on Flyscoot.com
2) Promo fares are now CHANGEABLE!
3) 12-hour GRACE period for making changes!

Any idea on when the sale ends, i.e. "book by..."?

Have a bunch of mates wanting to head to SE Asia for a bucks week(end) mid next year and this might be cheap enough to get them there...

Edit: duuuh it says at the bottom. On sale Mon 10 Sep -> Mon 17 Sep

For those who want to make the most of these flights, book your tickets as 2 x one way, you can save some $$$ by doing it that way.

Its a good $100 saving on the return leg when booked separately (SGD)

Yes, that's fine, but would any right-minded person actually fly Scoot?

There is a limit to my tolerance. Air Asia gets near to it. I think Scoot would far exceed it.

Many right minded people will fly Scoot.

Competition is great but more importantly it is an airline approved by CASA to fly into Australian airspace so it must tick the right boxes. I know a lot of AFF folks here criticise LCC airlines WITHOUT even flying them but rather formed their opinions based on nothing except hearsay, media diarrhoea or maybe just a phobia of anything other than a full service carrier. Take a look at Jestar for example, and all the nick names they have for it ...... One Star? Death Star? Orange Cancer?

Anyway back to Scoot, have you ever tried them? Did you have an unsatisfactory flight? Is there a reason why Scoot would exceed your tolerance levels?

???? I survived one of their flights. Yes I'm right-minded. Keep in mind that some of us are adventurous and willing to try out new things, some aren't.

Yes, I wouldn't recommend them given other similarly priced options - but at certain price levels, they definitely can fit requirements.

Prices definitely aren't bad. $400 for "business" to SIN. $138 with no frills. Pity it doesn't earn points :p

I like the 12 hour grace period to make changes - what a nice and welcome idea! Thats not very LCC of them is it?

If it wasn't for the checked luggage and the golf clubs then I would give them a try.

Unfortunately the cost get up to ~AUD500+ and for ~AUD660 I could book Qantas airfares ex-SIN and earn SCs and QFF points.

I have tried both and Scoot is heaps better than Air Asia X

1. AirAsia X SYD KUL is not cheap at all, with all the add-ons MAS is a better option. Scoot has these specials frequently, when they first started I got SYD<=>SIN for under AUD 230 return, seats only, which is cheaper than taxes + surcharges on QF.

2. Scoot lands in SIN, which is much more developed than KUL LCCT

3. Scoot's economy seats are much wider and their yellow special seats are only a few bucks more and the leg room is almost like premium economy. with AAX you need to pay about AUD 30 to get those exit row seats, however they are not wide enough because of the tray table storage on the side box.

4. the 777s are much roomier than AAX's A330.

5. Assuming you s/o to other destinations, the immigration at changi is much better than KUL LCCT.

When Singapore airlines pull this sort of fares from SYD to SIN, no wonder QF is backing off from SIN.

I got the email and booked 3 of the ScootBiz to BKK, to connect up to our *RGN mistake fare. Was around $552 a ticket with an overnight stay in Singapore, might try Marina Bay Sands and their pool. The connection to BKK the next day is in their ScootBiz as well. I think the price is excellent considering I only had enough QF points to book 3 JASA seats by reducing points needed and paying taxes of around $350 each, so not much more than the QF taxes and fees to probably being flying more comfortably than QF premium. I have over 300k Velocity points and couldn't bring up anything to SE Asia with Velocity online rewards!!!!!! probably could have rang them however will use some of those points for flights back from U.S. and keep the rest for upgrades.

I have flown Air Asia a number of times before, always premium in and out of Australia and in economy within South East Asia. If you think because you are paying for their premium seats you are getting an international Business class product, well you are deluded. You pay for what they offer, an LCC service and I have always found it fine, KL LCC terminal doesn't offer to much though. I expect Scoot will be fine and fairly comfortable for a day flight to Singapore. Besides that I am flying from Yangon to Newark, RGN-KUL-BOM-EWT in Business, Business and First class a few days later so to much premium flying might get boring!
