Morning all

I was checking out Scoot this morning and noticed that Canberra is now a departure option for flights to Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. I did a quick search and found that they are flying Virgin to Sydney and then Scoot on to final destination. I couldn't however find any flights for Hong Kong. Wondering if they are following in their big brothers (Singapore Air) footsteps and announcing direct flights from CBR. Has anyone heard anything?

CBR is also a selectable departure point on the Jetstar website. However, once selected the fine print reads "your journey from CBR to SYD will be on a bus" *shock*

A bus? Or an air bus, as in an A320?

As a *A flyer I find the Murrays service from central Canberra to SYD extremely useful!

Comfortable... on time..... drops you right at departures...

I can't see Scoot coming to CBR for much the same reason JQ doesn't.
I'd expect airlines around the south pacific and south east/east Asia will be watching to see how successful the SQ flights are.

One point of note - may or may not be relevant - before Scoot flew to MEL and before they "hooked up" so to speak with TT or VA, you could book Scoot flights from Bangkok (DMK) to MEL. DMK-BKK on Scoot, connecting to BKK-SIN on SQ. Always cheaper than you could book SIN-MEL on SQ.

Scoot lists VA as a partner so I'm thinking it's just a way of pulling more traffic towards their ACTUAL routes eg SYD/OOL/MEL/PER - SIN. I don't think they're introducing new routes themselves.
Much like QR may advertise flying out of BNE but you're actually on QF to Syd.

I suspect flying through to Hong Kong is actually a partner airline. Actually if you click on the "map" part of Scoots page of where we fly it's a dotted line indicating it's Scoot/Tiger Air operated to Hong Kong.

It adds a whole new meaning to the infamous exclamation mark when searching for QF award availability! :p

Makes "Your flight from Canberra to Sydney will be in Economy" seem much more reasonable.

That might be a nice pick-up if it turns out to be the case with CBR.

So there is a strong possibility that the bus is more comfortable than the plane?

Yeah, so comfy that people would prefer to spend 3 hours on the bus rather than 1/2 an hour on a plane!

After having to tfr to domestic.... wait for the flight.... fly... wait for bags in CBR... then get FROM the airport (not the most convenient location for many)...

IME "connecting" from an INT flight to Murrays gets me home quicker.

I can't argue with the logic ... apart from paying to fly and then catching a bus, which is quicker!

Last time I checked, the bus connection from SYD to CBR (booked in conjunction with an international JQ flight) only added $38 to the ticket price. That's approximately equivalent to the most expensive flexible fare sold by Murrays for the same service.

And of course I am a *A flyer.... so the metric is different for me!LOL
