SCs for a flight you don't get on?

Hi all,


Do you earn SCs for flights you don't get on when that flight is part of a multi-segment journey, and you fly at least one of the segments? For example, if I book a SYD-HBA JASA (which actually goes SYD-MEL-HBA), if I fly SYD-MEL but not MEL-HBA, will I still earn SCs for the MEL-HBA segment?

I'm pretty sure the answer to this question is "no", but thought I would double check. Unfortunately my upcoming SC run + a MEL-SYD return JASA later this month is going to leave me 5 (!!) SC short of WP due to some changes to expected flying between when I booked the SC run and now. I'm hoping I can book SYD-HBA (SYD-MEL-HBA) on the return leg and just stop in MEL whilst still getting the SCs for the MEL-HBA flight.

And you would be correct.

Generally you must travel on a flight to earn QFF points/SC's.

However, as it's a domestic flight you could get someone else to fly in your place, using your ticket, and they probably wouldn't know. After all, there's no ID checks.

While not directly related to the opening thread, you could always hope you get lucky like me.

I recently had a flight where I had booked an upgrade from Y to Y+ using points (BKK-LHR). I missed the flight, but got rescheduled the next day and still kept my upgrade. When I checked my points balance I got 80SC for the flight instead of the 40 that I should have got. I also got 80SC under the double SC promotion even though my ticket had been bought and paid for well before the promotion period.

Also, on my JASA, I flew for 365 worth of SC and then another 365 with the double SC promotion (730). However, checking my balance I ended up getting 750 for some reason.

While a long shot, you may get lucky with the 5SC.

While not directly related to the opening thread, you could always hope you get lucky like me.

In cases like these, it's probably better to consider yourself lucky, count your blessings and...probably shut up, if you know what I mean.

Saying that my cousin just asked me to look at his account as there is an unexplainable flight from LHR to BRU on his account... Just said be happy for the 500 miles you got
