I am booked on a VA flight from LAX to NYC which is operated by DL.
Booked thru VA but no DL reference number and VA website won't let me put in a seat request/upgrade seat. Economy class.
Any ideas how I can do this?

Thanks

Call DL (armed with your booking details [flight, name etc]) and ask.

You should be able to load your itinerary on the DL website with the VA PNR (it'll say something like "you've accessed this itinerary using reference xx_xx_ - you can also access it with reference xx_xx_" - the latter reference is the DL PNR if you need or want it).

Interesting - I'm also SYD-LAX-JFK codeshare with Delta for the 2nd leg. Using Delta's site I was able to bring up all the flight details but couldn't get seat selection working. In fact I couldn't even ascertain my seat on Delta's site. I did notice however that next to 'passenger information' I'm recorded as being 'Platinum Medallion / Elite Plus'. Also it states by each flight sector (including SYD-LAX where I am currently in J on VA metal) 'upgrade not eligible'.

Hrm OK - I was able to get seat selection working by doing this for some VA*DL flights I had .. no idea why it's not working for you :-|

I had a recent booking SYD-LAX-SFO with LAX-SFO on a VA codeshare (DL operated).I was able to retrieve the booking online via delta.com using the ticket number but no seat selection was possible until the flight was open for online checkin. Once open I could select any remaining seat but by that time most good seats were well and truly gone!

The upgrade not eligible flag is related to the comp upgrades that DL give elites. I travelled on a DL itinerary last year with my AF Gold number which entitled me to comp upgrades and it showed 'Upgrade Eligible' and then 'Upgrade Requested' or something similar when checkin opened.

Pleased to hear it :)

I've got a SYD->LAX->SEA , SEA->LAX->BNE->SYD flight booked in 10 days, returning 4 days later...

the LAX/SEA sectors are VA/DL codeshare. The interesting thing is I can select the seats on the return leg, and I even was prompted ti select Economy Comfort for "FREE" (which I did ;) ), but I'm unable to select seats on the first LAX/SEA leg

Any ideas why?
