Evening All,

I am looking at booking a One World Alliance RTW ticket towards the end of next week for my fiancée and I. For one leg in particular (London to Singapore) flying Qantas on the A380, I was looking at spending the extra dosh and flying Premium Economy. Being 6"4' (so not a small lad) and a Qantas Gold Frequent Flyer, I like to try and reserve the emergency row seating as soon as I have booked (domestic).

It occurred to me that instead of spending the extra $900 per person to travel in Premium Economy, I could save the money for a lovely Thai massage for the two of us  and reserve 2 seats in an emergency row as soon as the booking is made.

Granted, I take my chances that there be seats available on the flight, but can anyone please provide advice on whether I will be able to "reserve" emergency row seats on international Qantas flights? Or, if extra leg room is the greatest benefit, is the Premium Economy the better option.

Thanks!

You can do so OZDemon, but it'll cost you. :(

AUD80 each, to be precise. I'm reasonably sure that QF Plats and Golds have to pay for international exit rows in economy like everyone else. As a gold you can select non-exit rows gratis, as well as exit rows in premium cabins, but not in this situation. Seats 80A, 80K and 71D have no seat in front of them but are not exit rows - you may be able to snaffle one (or two, if you sat separately on that leg) of those.

Check seatguru's map here.

Yes you are able to pay to reserve exit row seats. In my opinion there is not a lot of difference between exit row seats and premium economy.

As a Gold though you need to confirm if you can purchase exit row seats on booking or if you have to wait until 7 days before the flight.
