Re: Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

Earlier in the week I notices car rental options were back when booking and I thought "What about (post booking) seat Selection?"

Today I note this (from another thread):
At least some parts of the upgrade must now be live as seat selection is available

+1!! Seat selection now appears when viewing details of a booking.

Only took 7½ months ... :-|

Slow clap. Congratulations VA - you have got part of your web site back to do what it used to be able to do last year......

Amazing! The whole thing is still clunky though. So I managed to change seats, in doing do so I have to select a 'Continue to Payment' button which is counter intuitive but I remember it from the pre-Sabre days being the same. And once that's confirmed at $0.00 it seems if I want to make further changes I'll have to go back to the My Bookings homepage....which there is no link for. As far as I can see the only way is to click 'Return to Virgin Australia' which opens a new window! If I click the VA logo on the confirmation page I just get an error page.

Yes, but those pesky SG people can't get all up in my face by selecting row 3 from 14 days out any more :p.

Re: Velocity website down

Just tried J seat selection MEL-BNE and it worked!

I just did the same for an upcoming MEL-LAX J return and that also worked & I was automatically emailed an updated itinerary with the new seat selections.

Nice to see but really, this should have been possible months ago.

Not for me it doesn't :(. Just tried with my PER-MEL-LAX return booking in J - although Seat Selection shows as an option, and I can change seats for the MEL-LAX-MEL legs (which I'd already selected at booking anyway), I still can't select seats for the domestic flights. The PER-MEL and MEL-PER legs still both come up with "online seat selection is unavailable for this flight. Seats will be assigned on check-in". Grrrrrrr

Re: Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

... and won't work for award bookings ...

And not working for my PER-MEL-LAX return trip in J either (paid booking, not an award one). I can change seats for the international legs (which I'd already selected at the time of booking anyway), but both domestic flights STILL come up with the message "online seat selection is unavailable for this flight. Seats will be assigned on check-in".

Re: Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

Row 3 FINALLY!!! Just went into my booking that I made back in February for this September and was able to re-seat in row 3. At the time, the system wouldn't let me ahead of row 12 because my travelling companion is only Red Velocity.

Looks like seat selection for existing bookings is back online. If you open your booking up on the VA site and select the "Add or Update Travel Extras" drop down list you will see a seat selection option that then takes you to a seat map of the aircraft.

I can hear much rejoicing, especially from those who you use corporate agents and have had to phone up every time they want a seat allocated.

I've just posted a question re this in the "Ask VFF" forum as the seat selection still doesn't work for me for 2 out of 4 flights on an upcoming booking, so wondering whether it's still a system glitch or if I'm just unlucky!

ETA: My apologies for what is effectively a double post on Page 1 of this amalgamated thread  (unable to edit those posts as they've been brought across from other threads).

I have just successfully pre-selected 3C both ways one a BNE-MEL-BNE flight later in September. As you say - much rejoicing. And I dare say not just from the punters, but the call centre staff as well!!

Unfortunately not on my booking , which is a points redemption booking , I receive a message stating that booking can only be changed via the call centre.

Same. I wonder why rewards bookings are treated differently?

Can't change/select seats online if you've purchased carbon offset...

On a side whinge, you also can't change or cancel bookings online if you've purchased the carbon offset. And CSRs make it out like it's the biggest favour of your life of them not to charge you the usual $35 phone fee.

Had identical experience. What a mess. It is simply beyond belief.

Re: Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

After reading through this, I went and had a look at our future bookings.

We are heading to to Bali shortly and when I booked the family trip early this year, we were all lowly Reds, So I booked the last row in the plane.

Had a look at the booking system this morning and as a Gold (and the other two family members are Red), I was able to move all of us to row 7. Good outcome me thinks.
