Here is one of my MAJOR gripes with QANTAS.

So... I choose to fly up front.... Have done for more years than I care to remember. How the heck is it that on International flights I ALWAYS get row 1... But DOM.. It's in the hands of the gods. I booked a trip to BKK for next weekend... I can get 1A each way AUTOMATICALLY for the International sectors... With DOM.. EVEN as part of a full fare F booking.. I get row 2 unless I log in at 80 hours out... I just do not understand it at all?!?!?!

I find it strange also. I am booked to Queenstown next Feb and was auto allocated 1A and 1B yet SYD-PER I have been getting 3A.

The system blocks the first two rows of both J and Y for CLs for domestic legs, no surprise really.

I know about the blocking but why not Int as well? That was my question, it seems strange that they operate different rules.

Domestic travel you are likely to get CLs at short notice booking and you have a smaller selection of good seats to keep them happy as well as cabins to upgrade them to.

Still a bit annoying!!

A bit of a win.... Got my e-ticket, checked online:
1B, 1A, 1A, 1B
MEL-SYD-BKK-SYD-MEL.

Bossreggie now happy once more!

Thank You;)

You in BKK this weekend? I have free days FRI/SAT/SUN, would prefer to spend in BKK than HAN - let me know, I've just sent you TXT from HAN number

I don't know why this has happened... I booked another trip to BKK leaving Monday 15th returning Wednesday 17th.

I booked in my normal manner.... BUT..... This time I was able to allocate myself 1B, 1A, 1A, 1B WITHOUT having to call QANTAS.

I wondered if it was an anomaly so as I have to book a 3rd trip to Asia for the start of next month I booked MEL-SYD-SIN-SYD-MEL and was able to choose Row 1 again on the DOM legs! Win!

It seems I am now able to choose seat 1B or 1C automatically!

I am very happy about this..... I do have a LOT of flights booked with QANTAS over the next 3 months in addition to the 3 R/T to asia in the next 14 days. (1,320 SC's in 14 days!!)

I personally think it should be a given if you are paying for an "F" flight with a DOM connection that your usual seat should be available.
