I am aware that Qantas stops flying direct to Shanghai at the end of July and China is not on my typical routing so seeking advice on the best business class option for airline / routing to get to Shanghai and return from Beijing to Melbourne. I can see options of Qantas or Cathay via HK or Singapore via Singapore but wondered if more experienced China travellers could advise please? Need to be in Shanghai by Sunday lunchtime (11/8) and return on the evening on Thursday (15/8) - landing sometime Friday. Have status with Qantas (P1) and Singapore (Gold PPS). Many thanks ☺️

The quickest is china eastern, $761 return economy class. 10 hours northbound and 16 on the way home as requires a stop in Shanghai.

For business class Qantas and Cathay have a fare of $3608 return. Multiple stops and minimum of 16-17 hours outbound and 20 hours on the return.

Weather can be an issue in china. Non-stop is going to otentislly be less affected than a transit via Hong Kong.

Thank you! What’s China Eastern like to fly with?
