Selecting a seat 48 hours in advance, does it still work?

Not too long ago I am sure I remember being able to select a seat through Update Passenger Details in My Booking, on the velocityrewards website.

Now I just get the payment details and passenger details such as name.

There seems to be no way except at online checkin.

Is this right or am I missing some magic button?

I ask because I am increasingly being put back in 7 and 3 has people that I know don't have status at all sometimes! Do they have another way in?

Unfortunately what you are seeing is indeed the current state of seat selection As part of the Sabre cutover, VA "regressed" advance seating selection. Seat selection can now only be made online at the time of booking, or at the time of online checkin. There is no self-service selection of seats at any other time. Apparently you can call.

The Velocity rep posted yesterday that restoration of online seat selection between booking and checkin was definitely being worked on, but it would not return for at least a couple of months...

Absolutely not the intention to leave things the way they are. We are working on enabling online seat selection via Manage Booking. At this stage it's looking like June at the earliest.

Non IBE bookings online....we're still working on this one!

You can call and get a seat assigned for no charge- your Velocity status can have an affect on from what seating you can select.

Seat selection can be done on booking (with mixed success), but once booked, a seat can be assigned, even if the flight is months away.

Would the bookings of the people in (row) 3 have been corporate bookings? My employer is a part of the Accelerate corporate programme. When I book via our corporate portal, this seemingly yields superior seating allocations that via the public booking site - however, I don't know if this method actually contributes to seating preferences, so it could be just luck!
