Have tried to find this answer on other threads and although there are plenty similar they are not quite the same.

Have booked Y+ return flights from SYD/AUH cash. VA flight numbers on VA metal

Have also booked J return flights from AUH/CDG reward points. EY flights numbers on EY metal but VA ticket

Is it possible to check bags all the way through from SYD to CDG without having to recheck them at AUH. (and the same for return)

Thanks:?:

I would think that this is possible given the time up with EY, and the fact you are in premium cabins. Ultimately it will come down to the check-in agent on the day. If anyone has tried this I would be interested to hear the outcome.

Virgin has interline agreement with most airlines, which definitely include their code-share partners. This will allow you to check your bags straight through.

I would like to confirm that this works:

I am planning to fly Y paid ticket SIN-AUH on EY metal, EY ticket
Then flying Y on points, AUH-LHR on EY metal but VA plated award ticket

I assume the baggage interline will work, but is there anything like linking PNRs I can do to ensure it is not at the whims of the check-in agent?
Also, is there possibility EY will look after me if there is a late running misconnect or would they wash their hands given it is not on the same ticket?

I am currently planning to leave 3.5 hours for the connection but I guess I could book one of the later LHR flights, making a very long layover in AUH.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I would like to confirm that this works as of last week

I had 2 separate redemption bookings in J. LHR AUH on EY booked with Velocity points and AUH SYD booked on VA using my VS points.

Checked in at LHR and had all details handy for the agent who was doing the check in … took a bit of time, but received both boarding passes and bags were checked thru to SYD
