After a positive impression of the new look Sheraton GC I decided its time to check out the renovated Sheraton Noosa.
The location is perfect, just at the entrance to Hastings st. with plenty of free parking around.
From the moment I entered the lobby I was impressed with the new fresh look.
Check in was quick, got an upgrade to superior room overlooking the pool.
The room was nice and specious and included a sofa, small kitchen, corner jacuzzi and balcony with 2 chairs & a table.
The pool view completed the resort style feeling.
No platinum recognition in the room, not even a bottle of water, unusual for SPG.

The pool area was beautiful and not too overcrowded. The small orange cabanas were a nice touch. The water was warm and the coughtails in the pool bar were cold and tasty :)

The original plan was to stay here one night and then check out the RACV resort. After a few hours we both decided to stay here one more night. I checked SPG & Wotif and both sites showed the hotel as fully booked. I decided to try my luck at reception and was told there is a golf event here tomorrow so the hotel will be 100% full for the next few days.
But, I was told the hotel keeps a couple of rooms which are reserved to platinum members late bookings so they were able to extend our stay one more night at the same rate. Happy days :)

Breakfast at the new restaurant was good with a decent selection and eggs Benedict made to order. Coffee tax was applied here (4.50$) but they do offer the brewed option for free.
The bar area facing Hastings st. was also renovated and now it looks very cool with comfortable sitting areas and a very nice and casual atmosphere.
We couldn't get 4pm checkout because the hotel was fully booked but we were offered to stay and use the pool and take a shower later. We were given an amenities pack & fresh towels.
It was a nice gesture making you feel welcomed to stay, contrary to some other hotels who can't wait to get rid of you after checkout.

All in all we had a great time and really liked the new look of the hotel.
The service was good as well, too bad there is no lounge but that's typical for SPG resorts.
2 things they should improve:
More platinum recognition in the room and cancel the 20$ self parking charge. With so much free parking around the hotel, it's just a huge rip off.

A few words about Noosa Heads. The last time I visited a few years ago was in June which I guess its off season. The area had more of a retirement village atmosphere and it felt very boring.
This time it was completely different. We could see a lot of young families, tourists and couples on the street and on the beach and the restaurants were full (we had dinner at Rococo & Bistro C).
The area felt vibrant like Surfers Paradise but without all the annoying teens and the noise from the parties. Perfect for a short gateway, we can't wait to come back :)
