After Texas it was time for a little beach time R&R.We were undecided between the Hilton Clearwater and this Sheraton. At the end of March Sheraton put on a sale, this property was cheaper so it was the Sheraton and we were not disappointed. It had mixed reviews on FT but on checkin we were upgraded to a suite on the top floor. Also given free inroom internet access plus access to the exec. lounge.

The lounge had free wine, beer and limited spirits 1700-1900.Also a reasonable continental breakfast. The pool is a little small for the size of the resort but getting there before 1000 I could do my laps.Beach was very wide and littered with thousands of huge Gulf oyster shells.
Amazingly we ate at the hotel all 3 nights.First at the Island grill and the special 1.5lbs snow Crab legs and these were v.good and not watery and only $15.
Second night their upmarket Rusty's restaurant-I had the seafood grill, mrsdrron the mushroom penne.Food and service was good.Mrsdrron's appetiser of scallop and Kobe short rib was excellent.i couldnt go past the conch chowder. With wine ~$55.
The next day we had the soft shell crab snack from the bar and went back to the Island grill for dinner.I had King crab legs plus beef tenderloin.Mrsdrron had a full salab of ribs. Both cost $13.95-excellent value.
Also have to mention housekeeping-very proactive.Noticed first morning I had used all the milk for coffee so left extra. We had al;so taken extra water from lounge so they left 4 bottles rather than 2.
All in all an excellent stay. The GM has been there since it opened>40 years. The Asst GM and the concierge have been there for just 2 years left.most staff have been there >20 years.Obviously doing something right and I was impressed.
