There are some interesting offers in the Velocity shop at the moment. I originally saw 10 points per dollar spent at shoes.com which could be a very dangerous incentive as I have a thing for hi-top sneakers (I limited myself by 5 pairs when I went to NYC).

However sorting all the shops by points, there are some big bonuses and this one in particular caught my eye:

From my reading, provided you follow the process above and complete the trial you get the points provided you cancel at the end of the trial?

Might be a bit of d*cking around (can't remember the last time I put a DVD movie into a DVD player - this is 2012!) but a relatively easy 1320 points for free?

There is also this Energy offer - Switchwise - Earn Velocity Points you can redeem on Everyday Items

but I assume you would have to actually switch your energy to get the points?

Thanks

Re: Shop and earn double points promotion - anyway to get the points without spending

And then there are all sorts of offers that give fairly good earn for fairly little outlay.

Weight Watchers - 3 month plan - $89.95 = 6588 Velocity Points
Vistaprint NZ - Free, fairly horrendous looking business cards = 745 Points
NZwineonline - any purchase (I think you can purchase a single bottle of wine for $11.95) = 1318 Points
Engin - any online sale (small piece of equipment) = 1040 points.

This is starting to look a bit like the US DM Grand Slam concept - you can buy 1 very small item from each retailer to get loads of points!

FWIW I find the Apple store very competitive on print cartridges, and HP have a wish gift card back promo on these!

Great in theory... shame Velocity take forever to post points. I've had a few transaction though them over 12 months and nothing has posted, i've followed them up numerous times and no luck.

I've given up and now direct any points back to Qantas.

I've claimed the Quickflix trial back when it was around 700 points from memory. Followed the steps, ordered a dvd and returned/cancelled prior to the end of the trial period. Didn't cost me a cent and the points posted about 6 weeks later.

Re: Shop and earn double points promotion - anyway to get the points without spending

Vistaprint NZ will charge 10.77NZD for delivery to Australia of your 'free' cards (or 9NZD for delivery to NZ), so no luck there.
Engin seems to be a voip (voice over internet) phone company 9.95 a month with no contract and no equipment could be a possibility, but would points post if you cancelled after one month?
NZwine will be 9.95 shipping so unless you can find a free shipping deal you lose the benefits.

Quixflix should work, I've received $20 paypal credit for a free trial with them once. But the shop and earn system is far less reliable than that direct promo.

P.S. I've recently had one of my pending shop and earn purchases come us as 'cancelled' for no apparent reason. What is the best way to fix this. I can't see any dedicated email or phone number for shop and earn. Should I PM the VA rep?

Maybe they have fixed a few issues, impressed to read this email given I signed up when this thread was created:

Your purchase from Quickflix on 30 May 2012 has now been approved, and as a result, 1320 Velocity Points will be credited to your Velocity Account within 24 hours.
