Whilst I proposed the 'inaugural MEL AFF Poker' night last year, that has not (yet!) come to fruition (basically i've not been in MEL or AU most of this year to actually arrange it).
I bought a shiny new poker table several months ago which has only had one outing so far, and i'm keen for it to get some more use.
So, with that in mind, I'm proposing a relatively short-notice mini-AFF poker evening.
Ideally, i'd like to limit this to people who know how to play, just to make it a little more serious than a fun game. There may be some cash buy-in involved and we can divvy up the winnings amongst the top 3 or so players.
My table will take 11 at a pinch (plus me dealing/playing, so 12 total) although 8-10 is ideal for a comfortable game.
I'm proposing we do this on the evening of Saturday, Jul 7 (I figure it's better than the evening of the 21st where people will be work out from double FLounging and the DC3 flight). I'm located in the CBD where transport is good, but parking is limited to street parking (but fortunately it's usually reasonable around my area on a weekend evening).
Anyone interested? Will be BYO. I can supply some fridge space and i'm sure I can rustle up some nibbles but it'll just be chips n dips. Suggestions on buy-in's also welcome (don't want to price people out but don't want to make it too cheap either). I'm suggesting a sub-$50 buy in for this game.
Out of state visitors will have first preference (that means you Lindsay Wilson ). If you know how to play but not deal that's fine; I have a casino style table and will most likely end up dealling the game anyway (it's touch to pitch cards from the end of a table that's not round) and i'm a trained dealer (although my skill does get... messy... when i've had a few).
As I have myself and housemate interested, that leaves spots for 8 or 9 people ideally. We don't have a particularly large apartment (as those of you who have been to my place will attest) so am keeping numbers strictly limited.
