Hi

Last night it happened again: the dreaded short-sheeting where housekeeping puts on a bed sheet so small that it either does not fully cover the bottom end of the mattress or only tucks in by about a centimetre on every side, ready to come unstuck at your first nocturnal roll.

I've made complaints. I've had the night managers up remaking my bed at midnight. I've put it in my booking profile. I've tried different hotels in this city but they all seem to do the same thing! I am thinking of bringing some gaffer tape to tape the ends of the bed sheet under the mattress.

Any other ideas?

I've had the same thing happen, where the sheet was about a foot too short for the bed at the bottom. No idea what you can do about other than keep complaining ;)

Never happened to me. What city by the way?

My feet go all the way to the bottom of the bed, so I guess I'm more likely to notice...and I've experienced it twice, once in Aus and once in NYC :o

I am def to short to notice.
Usually the tuck they sheets in so tight i can barely turn over!

+1 - at over 6'4" I usually cant get my feet near the end of the bed due to the tightness of the sheets.

Ditto. at 6'4"ish too I just kick the sheets out of their 'ninja' like tucking. I'd rather be able to stretch out and lack some sheet than be all curled up in a ball.

Hotels never learn though ;)

I thought short sheeting was where the bed is made with only one sheet. It is folded in half and the head-end looks normal... but when you get in your feet only get halfway!

It's not so much short sheeting as short bedding. Was in Tokyo for business and stayed at the Shibuya Excel Hotel, as organised by work.

I had a tiny room, as expected, but the bed was about 30cms shorter than a normal western sized bed. Even though the sheets were long enough to be tucked in at the end of the bed it didn't matter as they had to be untucked to allow my feet to stick out!

I can't say I have ever been short sheeted. Short changed perhaps but not short sheeted.

It is funny though some of the things you do notice staying in hotel rooms. I could swear this one time they used the same bed sheet 4 days in a row. Not that I care but it was noticeable as it had a jagged sort of tear (the size of a 5 cent piece) and the first day the tear was on the side of the bed I sleep on near the pillows, the next day it was on the other side of the bed again near the pillows (so sheet has been turned over) and then the next 2 days the tear was on the feet side of the bed on either side so it was turned over again and again.

No big deal though for me these days as I have picked up a bad habit staying in a hotel in Brisbane and I usually just sleep on top of the bed. The only time I would sleep on the sheets and use blankets is at home in Sydney during the colder months.
