Long story short, I was on a QF2 ex DXB to Syd in Y, flight was 100% full, delayed for 5 hours, aircon struggled to work for the first 6 hours of the flight after sitting in the Dubai sun for 5 extra hours. That I can deal with, however entertainment system was not functional for the entire flight.

I sent an email got back the usual response and the complimentary 10,000 points and I am left wondering is that really any compensation? I would much have preferred perhaps a flight credit/voucher considering a LHR-DXB-SYD flex Y isn't exactly cheap, nor do I need the points as I have well over 400k.

Am I being a little too selfish in this case and should shut my pie hole and move on ?

Were you on the runway for 5 hours or just the plane.

My husband was in J on a 12 hour flight last week and entertainment system didn't work but we didn't think it worth doing anything about. Not worth the extra thought. I think you did fine. A voucher is beyond expectations.

Given that it's at least -30º outside, the aircon would have had no issues due to any heating in Dubai. It may have been hot, but that can't be the reason. It actually becomes very cold, very fast, if the heating is turned off.

QF puts the notional value of 10K points at about $70 (.7c per point). So that is within a reasonable ball-park for economy compensation.

Thanks for the replies, I decided to heed Pushka and Mel and not pursue the matter further. We were not on the tarmac, was an engine fault detected during the inbound flight so 5 hours in the terminal.

Jb747 re the air-conditioning, the plane was on the ground with doors open when they had to run an engine test, A/C would have been off for a significant duration prior to boarding. It was an anomaly (I am a regular A380 traveller) and it honestly took a long time. The crew would not be putting themselves through it by choice.
