For example, in the states, if you were to go on an SC run, I have been reading a fair bit and it feels like there is a lot to know about them other than booking efficiently $:SC.

1. Accomodation: Airport vs nearby good pick hotel. And if sleeping at the airport, should have the boarding pass/itinerary "exposed" so security doesn't wake you up? Or how best not to wake up with all your stuff gone :P or which lounge one would sleep in!!
2. Customs: Strange when doing a u turn so quickly but also have paperwork handy to "prove" what you are doing rather than being suspected of being up to something no good.
3. Transit: Do you always have to collect luggage and re check in if transit is short? e.g. at the u turn point? Making sure there is enough time between flights to allow that.
4. Personal experience: Regarding the fatigue levels for such expeditions, what you managed to do in the few hours layover, idiosyncracies and interesting facts etc
5. FF program: Perhaps better off accumulating AA and use the one world emerald instead? Be aware of which flights will earn or won't earn due to class or carrier change or mixed tickets therefore affecting expected earn and therefore falling short of target SC.
6. Cabin class: First is not the first we are otherwise used to, but i guess it is much cheaper and is technically domestic (which we don't have so cant bag it too much :P)
7. Cant think anymore....

I guess depends on how many people actually do the SC runs.

Also probably can apply to different countries not just US, e.g. japan Yokoso etc

What do you guys think?

IMHO there's so much information on status runs on here, we probably don't need a separate thread.

Also, it's best not to publicise YUPP and KUPP runs too much, the SFO-LAX-LAS run vanished after getting too much publicity (helped by sites like AFF/FT/MP). Whilst i'm all for sharing of information (and have picked up many many brilliant tips from here) some things need to be kept on the down low or they vanish too quickly :)

Check out a few of the trip reports people have posted. Many excellent ones on AAnother AAirline ;)

I can appreciate that. Thats why, this meant to exclude the actually bookings and destinations and how to best get a ratio etc

I was mainly after peoples thoughts on whether its worth consolidating into one thread as a sticky, after reading many different posts about tips ONCE you start the trip.

No intention to start something about how to book one as there are quizs etc for that :)

New to AFF and I like the idea of a 'sticky' for status credit runs or maybe specific threads for certain runs. I had a look at some of the 'quiz' SC run articles and to be honest they seem a bit silly, why not just be upfront with the information instead of treating it like a 'game' which most people won;t have a hope of understanding, all I want is the information please.

Maybe what we need is a 'Status Credit Run 101' thread where all the basics are explained, what you need to know, how to choose a good value run, what to look for, tips, even use some routes as examples to illustrate a point like the relative 'value' of a run, this one from A to B gets you X credits per dollar for this reason, while this one from C to D is not as good value, only Y credits per dollar.

We already have one, along with a search function ;)

Some may say publicising such runs will reduce their availability or even result in their demise, there is a certain amount of truth to that, just like fishing, the best spots are often the ones that are hard to get to and/or not well known! Luckily, there are plenty of people here that are happy to pass on the knowledge at times!
