OK - Disclaimer up front for those who have the sense of humour of a house brick...

This poll is in jest, OK? Comprehend? Good!

Here goes...

Lets ban NO NEWS articles from AFF - the Never let the truth get in the way of a good story is getting me down, I want facts, not hyperbole, the only extrapolation of the truth allowed is when convincing Mr or Mrs <insert name here> how much the new suit, dress, car, bike, other <choose one> cost, the only desk top journalism we want is from posters of AFF threads, the only quotes from seasoned travellers we want to read about are those who had an accident with a herbs and spices delivery truck, wining is for Friday nights with a good steak, QANTAS is not Italian for punching bag, when a plane has a maintenance issue picked up before departure, and is repaired, this is not news, bad weather is not an airlines fault, a frequent flyer is someone who takes more than one flight a year and someone's ego is not news worthy - thats un-Australian...

I'm munitalP and thats all I've got to say!

They make for a good laugh - and think of all the extra posts people get from them!

Actually, good old Murdoch wants to kill off free online news, and NoNews will start charging for news next year he claims ... so your wish could come true pretty soon!

No need to ban, just stop talking about them and not the story :p

Ban them? Then what would all those who believe in the "News Ltd is out to get Qantas " theory have to complain about?
Qantas does get a lot of bad press in my opinion, and they deserve a better deal, but I have seen just as much rubbish about Qantas, and other airlines like V Blue in Fairfax papers.
Sorry Mr P I vote no.

The decision is way too easy. I hardly ever pay for a newspaper now so why would I pay to read news online?

No! We need as many people to kick as we can get. Especially those of us who don't have cats ;)

No.

Because Fairfax is not much better.

Definitely not. I've come to think of NoNews as comic book journalism. It brightens my day to see badly spelt, poorly worded articles, with inaccurate pictures.

I think it will eventually be revealed that the staff of NoNews consist of two 10 year olds and a monkey with a PC.

Ummm,
Just did media training at work. It was very interesting. I dare say their are many that don't full understand the journalist's game.

Key points.

LOCAL, LOCAL, LOCAL - this is why and Airfrance story become about the QF codeshare - LOCAL.

Journalist's write a story from a particular angle, they have to get this angle quickly and once they get it that's it. Journalists are also not experts in the field. Hence it is up to the poeple being interviewed to tell the story they want written otherwise the journalist will write the first thing they think of, by natural habit.

So, no don't ban news limited stories, just understand the journalistic method and ignore it. Failing that don't comment on the stories.

Edit: yes very funny thread :D

The news section of this site will be much less entertaining if we ban NoNews so I vote no. ;)

However, for real, quality, OTT, comedic, entertaining trash, check out a copy of one of the UK tabloids like the Daily Hate Mail. They make the Herald Sun read like the Times.

And that's where my problem lies with nonews... LOCAL LOCAL LOCAL may sell news papers, but the truth it is anything but...

Seriously nonews articles are my daily dose of comic relief... If I want true unbiased journalism I'll go to one of the hunderd or so other news websites which exist on the web. As for Mr Murdoch wanting people to pay for news, well he has another think coming. People aren't paying for news as it has now become available from so many stories, real journalism usually requires more than reading a few twitter feeds and at the end of the day paying for information didn't work back in 1999, why do they think it'll work in 2009 (or 2010)?
