Hi All,

Given the QF's announcement of partner WP status for WP1 members, can we expect VA to announce anything for WP ? Probably complimentary PPS Gold :p for member, I can skip partner complimentary status in that case

Cheers, ap_spd

Given the current benefits of Platinum with VA are not much better than Gold, I doubt it

Re: Should we expect VA to announce something for WP given QF's announcement for WP1.

With all due respect you aren't comparing VA Platinum to QF Platinum One?

It is not even close to QF Platinum. Somewhere in between QF Gold and QF Platinum but closer to QF Gold.

Sorry, what I meant to ask was if we can expect VA to counter with some offering. Maybe genuinely enhance WP offering.

The only thing I could see them doing is to create a Platinum 1 equivalent for lots of status credits.

The fact that I can get 20,000 points for a flight on Qantas that only gives me 7,000 is quite a benefit.

The VA product can never be worth a great deal so long as they are not part of an alliance. VA Platinum and QF Platinum are chalk and cheese.

This is a purely personal opinion but I find the recognised status from VA with SQ and EY to be very valuable. Having used the 1st class lounge EY in Abu Dhabi (whilst flying J), this was worth a great deal to me!

Re: Should we expect VA to announce something for WP given QF's announcement for WP1.

They don't have anything else to offer. They don't have F Lounges nor are they part of an alliance. They can't offer additional benefits on SQ or DL without annoying their Star and Sky partners.

I'm sure they've done a thorough cost/benefit analysis but you have to wonder how much business they are losing by not being a member of Star (or even SkyTeam). I agree QF WP is in a completely different league to VA WP.

What about guaranteed J class long haul reward seat. I think that would be a nice touch

Don't they already have that?

They have J reward and guaranteed Y reward. I don't think they offer a guaranteed J reward.

Would be nice but they only fly to 2 long haul destinations and one of them is really a stopover not a destination.

The existing platinum reward guarantee is for four return economy seats from Australia to any port serviced by a partner airline, not just AUH or LAX.
