Los Angeles Airport Terminal Changes from 1 October 2008

With the introduction of Qantas A380 services, terminal changes will occur at Los Angeles Airport for selected Qantas flights effective 1 October 2008, as follows:

Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT):

  • All Qantas operated non-stop flights to and from Sydney, Melbourne and New York (JFK) operate from this terminal. Check in at the Qantas counters.
  • Qantas codeshare flights to and from Fiji operate from this terminal. Check in at the Air Pacific counters.
  • Qantas codeshare flights to and from Tahiti operate from this terminal. Check in at the Air Tahiti Nui counters.
  • Mexicana (MX) codeshare services.

Terminal 4:

  • All Qantas operated flights to and from Brisbane and Auckland/Melbourne operate from this terminal. Check in at the Qantas counters in Terminal 4 at the far right-hand corner as you enter the terminal.
  • American Airlines (AA) codeshare services operate from this terminal.

Pity. I love flying into T4 domestically, and having a ~30 second walk to the gate/lounge while waiting for QF150.

Oh well, I hear the TBIT lounges are nice (didn't get time to check them out last time I was shunted onto LAX-MEL at the last minute).

Cheers,
- Febs.

Qantas are making sure PAX know about these changes ...

Subject: Change to terminal at Los Angeles airport

As you are flying with us soon to the United States of America, we wish to advise that there have been terminal changes at Los Angeles Airport on selected Qantas flights. Your Qantas flight will operate to and/or from the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT).

Note: some Qantas services will continue to operate from Terminal 4. If you change your flights, take note of the terminal information shown on your itinerary documentation.

These terminal changes, effective as of 1 October 2008 are due to the introduction of the Qantas A380 aircraft later this year.

If you have connecting flights operated by another carrier, refer to your travel documentation for terminal information. If you are required to change terminals, the terminals are co-located and are approximately 100 metres apart. Alternatively, a free inter-terminal connection bus operates on a regular basis.

We look forward to welcoming you onboard soon.

Certainly with Aerobridges - they have set up 2 gates ... (#101 & #123)

Hold up...so if TBIT is the A380-ready terminal, and SYD flights are changing to TBIT, does that mean the first QF A380 flights will be SYD-LAX?

I thought MEL-LAX was going to be the first route?

Eh, this works better for me! :D

Just a question regarding LAX and the A380, looking at my itinerary I arrive in to LAX on QF 11 to Terminal B.
Does this mean the Airside bus from a remote terminal across to TBIT for Customs/Immigration purposes?

*Never mind* Terminal B and TBIT are the same...phew

We were there 3 weeks ago and went over on the 380, I'm not sure I'd call TBIT ready for the 380. Sure the gates are there, and the bridges, but its a bloody long walk to baggage collection via all the construction work. No conveyors/travalators. I guess the good thing is that it gets the blood pumping after sitting for a long time!

I guess it beats having to wait a eternity for your bags if they aren't first/priority tagged
