If you are in oz, there is a sale on 'till Tomorrow. Depending on where you live, here are some examples:

ADL:

ADL-BNE-ADL for $252
ADL-SYD-BNE for $258

MEL:

MEL-BNE-MEL for $270,
MEL-SYD-CBR-MEL for $300

BNE:

BNE-ADL-BNE for $252,
BNE-MEL-BNE for $270,
BNE-TSV-BNE for $258,
BNE-CNS-BNE for $276.

SYD:

SYD-MEL-CBR-SYD for $300
SYD-ADL-SYD for $258.

CBR:

CBR-MEL-SYD-CBR for $300

PER:

PER-ADL-PER for $398 (40SC's)
PER-SYD-PER for $418 (40SC's)
PER-MEL-PER for $418 (40SC's)

And if you go for a SCRUN to get the extra SC's make sure you book before Friday.

Fuel fines go up :(

So SCRUNning becomes even less worthwhile... again!

if you're a member of the qantas pub (oops...club!), little to no benefit at all, i'd say.

based on what you and others have said here the only thing you will get - that you can use immediately and will have meaning (i think) is a QC membership.

if you have this then i think your money is better in your pocket.

Cheers

Silver status goes not get Qantas Club membership. Complementary Qantas Club membership is only for Gold and Platinum status members.

Silver gets you 25% status bonus on miles flown, a single visit Qantas Club invitation, Business Class check-in, extra 10kg or 1 piece baggage allowance, seating preference linked to profile.

It also gets you oneworld Ruby status. I was trying to get into an Admirals Club in Frankfurt and my QC card gained no smiles, but that little red oval on the bottom of my Silver card did the trick.

It shouldn't have - Qantas Club membership gets access to AC's, but the OW Ruby status does not get you lounge access. So, as far as AA goes, having both will be good, the QC membership gets the lounge access, the Ruby status gets you the benefits of J check-in.

Where the Ruby status is worthwhile is with other OW carriers, such as IB, CX, et al - you won't get lounge access, but you will get priority check-in and so on.

OOPS ... sorry for the bumsteer on the QC ... I am totally incorrect. Thank you for setting the OP back on track with correct information.
