Hi all,

I'm going to be traveling from SIN-LHR rt in September. If possible I'd like to try and get an upgrade on the flights (I'm gold btw).

My questions:

- Is that route busy in September so is there much chance of getting upgraded?
- Of the available flights (QF9, QF31 and QF5 via Frankfurt) is there any one which I would have a better chance of an upgrade?

If there is little chance of an upgrade then I'd look at other airlines/options.

Thanks!

LuisT

Are you hoping for an upgrade using Qantas Frequent Flyer points, or an Operational Upgrade for free?

Ah, good point. Yes, I was hoping to use points.

Never managed to get an op-up from Qantas!

Points upgrades cannot be confirmed at the time of booking or requesting the upgrade. So if you have an alternate option that provides a confirmed seat in a better cabin, then I always consider a bird in the hand is worth ....

Qantas FF upgrades are a lottery and it impossible to generalise or speculate about possibilities. If flying with Qantas anyway, then you might as well waitlist and hope for the best. Status has a significant influence on the probability of the upgrade request being successful.

I haven't actually booked yet, but I was going to make sure it is eligible...
Its always a gamble to choose to pay a higher fare just for the ability to enter the upgrade lottery. Of course its a gamble Qantas hopes people will take ;).

Yeah, that's why I figured I'd ask first. If the flights are always fully booked and it's a busy time, then may as well book the cheapest possible. However in this case it's only $40, so maybe I'll just take the chance...
