Hi,
I'm a VA gold and I will be travelling BNE-SIN return on SQ with my partner and a 5 year old child. The VA website states that I'm allowed 1 guest (inclusive of children). My partner doesn't have any status.
What is recent your experience of travelling with children? Are the lounge staff lenient and allow me to bring my child?

Thanks!

I am not an expert in this area, but given you are in BNE; I reckon you'll be ok. I recall CX being very strict about this in the Wing F HKG lounge many years ago, where even they did not recognise the 'one child policy'............ After serving the Manager with an appropriate dressing down, a successful smuggling operation via the opposite and connecting business entrance was successfully executed.

I predict a humane decision in your case.

Enjoy the lion city.

Pre-covid I had no issues taking wife and 3.5 year old into any lounge.

Flying SQ in 3 weeks SIN-BNE with wife and daughter who is now 6 years old. I suspect we'll have to sit out in terminal.

I've just asked in T3 Krisflyer Gold lounge about access to lounge with wife and daughter in 2.5 weeks and the answer was no.

They gave me a contact email to ask for special dispensation which I guess could not hurt to send email. The worse case scenario they say no.

Interesting and predictable No, but...

Agree no harm in giving it a go

They also turned away a couple who were on different flights.

I know rules are rules but I'd prefer if wife used the lounge instead of daughter. It would probably be frowned upon but can I guest wife into lounge and then I walk out to be with daughter?

SIN is a rules based society whereas as a former penal colony we try to circumvent the rules.

Guest daughter in and then go and get mum.....sneak past the guards

play the game!

To play the game I will guest wife into lounge and leave daughter for lounge staff to baby sit.

By the way I'm not exaggerating but many staff everywhere we go offer to baby sit my daughter. I still can't work out how I've been blessed with this gift.

Pre-covid I travelled MEL-SIN with wife + daughter who would have been ~ 4 at the time. Same as you was VA Gold and fully aware that it’s 1 guest, but tried anyway in MEL and they did let us in as a “just this one time, we’ll make an exception” type thing. I reckon chances are good in BNE, but probably less so at the Gold lounge in SIN. Worth a shot though as the worst case is they’ll just say no.

A couple of months ago as I was leaving the KrisFlyer Gold lounge in SIN a couple approached with small child. I heard the man ask if he could take his partner and child in based on his status. They left disappointed.

FWIW, unless you want a shower (and have time to wait 30+ mins for it) there are better places in the airport to pass a few hours.

We're transiting SIN T3 today on way back to BNE. Explained to wife and daughter that it's strictly one guest. They both pushing me to ask and I said no I'm not asking.

T3 SilverKris Lounge had elderly male on left counter and lady on the right counter. I went to the left counter. The Scoot boarding passes printed for SQ in CNX did not have VA status so the man looked up my status then asked for wife's boarding pass. He said next time it will be strictly one guest.

At no point did I ask. I was fully expecting to explain my plan to him of wife and I taking turns to supervise little one while the other one goes inside lounge.
