Hi,
Just wondering if Singapore is good value for getting made-to-measure clothes made? Would mainly be casual type shirts, trousers, maybe ladie's fashions. If it is good value, any recommendations?

Much better value in Bangkok. Doubt you'll find anything for a fair price in Singapore.

Thank you everyone thus far for your input. Due to timing, it is either Singapore or nowhere. A single overnight in/near Bangkok rules out that option.

Watching thread with interest but not hopeful - I've struggled to get dry cleaning done in less than a week in Singapore...

Tailoring in "24 hours" in Bangkok is not real bespoke tailoring - its just altered template clothing. Quality is dubious. Good tailoring takes time.

This isn't my experience at all. Maybe you have dealt with low quality tailors previously?

I'd suggest you might want to look again.

No quality tailor would even think of offering to deliver a finished product in 24 hours. A genuine bespoke tailored outfit requires time invested by the tailor and multiple fittings. There are good tailors in Bangkok but they are unlikely to be the ordinary 24 hour variety that is so often written about.

Again, not my experience.

Although not desirable, 3 fittings can easily be fitted into a 24 hr period.

I have used the same tailor in Singapore for the last 8 years with no problems and always able to turn around my order in whatever time I have available. Where possible I provide prior notice of my arrival. If I want a new suit or sports coat I allow 2 days, and even 3, to be on the safe side for fittings - but its not really necessary. Singapore is now less attractive because of the devaluation in the AUS$ exchange rate. When it used to be AUS$1 = SIN$1.10 tailor made clothes were good value.
