I just got the same - the conversion rates though! Yikes!

I could almost see the 3:1 marriott->KF conversion if I was stuck. I value most hotel chains points at about 0.5c and most FF points at about 2.5c (only useful at that rate for J rewards). So 3:1 would 'cost' me 1.5c for potentially 2.5c of value ... but honestly, its probably almost always going to be a better proposition to transfer in more KF points from one of your earning sources.

Going the other way would be a total shocker - 5c of KF value turning into 0.5c of Bonvoy value - yuck.

Yes exchange rate is terrible. The spread is worse. SQ rate 6 of their miles going out to 1 mile in return for the same Marriot Bonvoy value. That's chunder.

I've done plenty of transfers from Marriott (and formerly SPG) and done very well over the years. Especially in the past when there were ample generous quarterly promotions and a 25% bonus for converting in larger multiples.

The SQ -> Marriott conversion ratio isn't the least bit appealing, but perhaps the novelty is that there's finally a way to earn miles on SQ and transfer them to a non-alliance partner like BA or AA where there are some nice redemption sweet spots.

What I couldn't work out is if this is an enhancement, or if the 60k points bonvoy to KF transfer still attracts the bonus 5k miles?

Definitely not the best use of points but just used this to transfer a small balance of points that would have otherwise expiry this year (~6k) from KrisFlyer and Cathay Asia Miles and then on transferred them to Qantas

KrisFlyer are still extending the expiry dates 6 months at a time, are they not?
Not sure, but I had such a small balance and also needed the KF points transferred over so that I had a minimum of 3k Marriott points

Good point, as I mentioned above, it's not good value but if unable to use the points, at least you can get something for transferring elsewhere.
