Hi

Well, it appears my favourite place to holiday is Singapore - I visited 4 times last year :) ... I thought I would share a few experiences with hotels for readers information and also help me pick my next hotel for my next trip!

First stay

Park Hotel Clarke Quay - Inlaws paid for it as our honeymoon present. Was lovely, clean, the Pool was fantastic but the SERVICE sucked big time. Wifi was expensive and restaurant food was average. Would not book again based on service

Robertson Quay Hotel - very average rooms, tasty breakfast. good if you are just using the place to sleep. good customer service.

Nostalgia Hotel - very nice funky hotel, breakfast very tasty. we found it advertised cheaper elsewhere after booking so they did their pricebeat however as we required a twin room they couldnt upgrade room so gave us complimentary breakfast. Caused a bit of confusion on check out but all worked out OK. Great customer service.

Other stay was with a local, it was fantastic!! unfotunately he doesnt have room for me this time.

So I am thinking of staying either Hotel Re! or Ibis Novena does anyone have any comments, personal experience? I would preferably like somewhere with free wifi and for around the $150-175 SGD per night.

Thanks S

I've stayed at Traders several times and really like it there. The rooms aren't huge and the decor is a bit dated but the staff are fantastic, the pool area is fab and a great place to while away a morning with a book or an afternoon with a coughtail, the internet (wired and wifi) is free and the location is good. It's about a 10 min walk to Orchard Road, otherwise there is a free shutttle that the hotel operates. The hotel is also above a small shopping centre (Tanglin Mall) which has a great little supermarket where you can stock up on essentials (or replace beers from the mini bar!) for longer stays.

When are you going? We're off in December, on the way to India.

I like Traders too and, despite the rooms being tiny, I'd go back to Nostalgia as well as the service was great. I've got friends who stayed at the Ibis Novena and they said it was decent, not fantastic but good for the money in Singapore. Novena is not far from Orchard Rd and some good hawker centers nearby plus close to the MRT.

My preference in SIN is the Pan Pacific but not sure bout the rates...

Novena is ok but nothing flash. Usual wood panel ibis no frills hotel. Location is out of the way but ok. About 10mins walk to mtr. I'd stay there again but wouldn't be my first choice.
