I have a current Skype number but they are closing on 5 may 2025,
the cheapest alternative is this.
it only costs 85cents per month to maintain and .009 a minute to receive calls and no upfront charges though you have to put $US15 to start but get $10 to join here.
the old Skype number was $A72 so this is a lot cheaper
