For those about to head to ZQN beware the dodgy snow chains. We rented a previa from Apex. Following advice earlier in thread took photos with agent etc. Got to the bottom of The Remarkables road one morning only to discover that snow chains hired were rusty and broken, car bogged and had to wait for help. They tried to claim that we must have damaged them as they are inspected prior to every hire. After much argument and inspection of car and tires we were given a replacement set FOC. Lucky we were not at the top of the mountain with the previous set!

The maintenance guys at the remarks would have sorted you out for free. They're good.

As for chains, always best to unpack them before you first drive up the mountain to see they're all good. We have our own car and it'll be one of the things we do when we arrive. Always pays to be prepared.

Can't speak highly of previas though. A Subaru station wagon works much better :p

Also, perhaps this isn't the thread for this comment as this is to do with a car rental company on the Gold Coast.

Hope your holiday was good nonetheless.
