Update: Hilton Brisbane QLD, Australia:
"Please note the Executive Lounge will be closed for maintenance between 22 December, 2012 and 7 January, 2013."
Prior experiences with this property and lounge closure has seen them set up a temporary lounge near their main restaurant.

I've seen Hilton on The Park do this for the past couple of years. They close for 2-3 weeks and re-open with no obvious signs of maintenance. :(

Quite considerate of Hilton BNE executive lounge not to close from inclusive of 18th December.. Sure there would have been some kind of protest/s

I booked NYE here anyway... 20k HH and $69 is hard to beat.

I'd be surprised if we didn't get at least a complimentary breakfast, as it's a HHonors Gold benefit:

a complimentary continental breakfast for you and up to one additional guest registered to the same room each day of your stay

And today I received this email about Melbourne's Hilton on the Park.

Dear Mr Hvr,
As the holiday period is upon us, this is a courtesy email to advise you that our Executive Lounge will be closed for annual maintenance from Sunday 23[SUP]rd[/SUP] of December 2012 after breakfast at 11:00am and re-opening on Friday 11[SUP]th[/SUP] of January 2012 at 6:00pm for pre-dinner drinks.

However, Executive Lounge will be open Monday 31[SUP]st[/SUP] of December for New Years Eve pre-dinner drinks from 6:00pm to 8:30pm and for breakfast following morning from 7:30am to 11.00am on New Years Day.

Whilst the Executive Lounge will be closed, as a Hilton Honors Diamond member we will offer you breakfast in the Gallery Restaurant located on the Ground Floor overlooking the Fitzroy Gardens and you may choose to enjoy either a hot or cold buffet at no extra charge and enjoy pre-dinner drinks and canapé in the Park Lounge between 6:00pm – 8:30pm.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

I've been through this previously at HOP. The drink(s) and canapes downstairs are not as generous as in the EL, unfortunately.

I have stayed there, at the Parmelia, and there is no EL.

Thanks for the reply

By the way, I received two drinks vouchers (HH Diamond)(2 staying in the room) each day for the lounge bar adjacent to the foyer and had complimentary full breakfast each morning in the dining room adjacent to the bar.

I received the same email Hvr posted for Hilton on the Park.

same experience at HOP. sounds very much like cost cutting

It's not a Hilton obviously but the Park Hyatt in Canberra is also closing their lounge, from a week before Christmas until the first weekend in February, but for breakfast only; the evening soiree will continue.

Glad to hear that, I've just done 50 nights at the Canberra Hyatt, I don't mind having the free breakfast in the restaurants as long as the evening soirée is still on... :D
