SPG to Marriott to United (25% bonus on the last of these)

Folks should seriously look at converting SPG points into Rewards Plus, if being offered between 35% and 50%. One data point is to transfer 19000 SPG to 57000 Mariott points. With United offering 25% bonus (until 30 Nov), you could convert those 56000 of Mariott points to 25,000 United points. With the 25% bonus from United, you would get 6,250 more points as bonus.
So all in all 19,000 SPG -> 57,000 Mariott->31,250 United = all set for a single J to South east Asia from Aus. Effectively 19,000 SPG (with 50% bonus) is around US$333 = AUD434.
And left over with 1,250 United and 333 SPG (1000 Mariott).

I have 200,000 MR Gateway from recent bonus ,

According to calculation above , is it best value to convert from 38,000 Gateway - 19,000 SPG - 31,250 United for single J to SEA provided you only can get on with Thai Airways J transit via BKK , with their old 747 from SYD that make me think really hard is it a good choice , it make alot easier if we can redeem SQ J

I would do F on TG. Much better value than their coughpy J. 112,000 MR will turn into more than 90,000 UA miles which is enough for a return trip in F to SEA.

I was thinking about doing Hotel + Miles as I have quite a fair bit of MR points. 180,000MR will turn into 152,000 United miles + 7 nights in Cat 5 hotel or Cat 6 with 200,000MR. Only 8,000 miles short to get 2 return trips in F to SEA which I go regularly.

I ended up buying SPG points at 35% discount and did a bit of MR transfer to get 62,500 UA miles. I might need MR points for SQ next year.

Hope they do this promo again next year and will do Hotel + Miles. Need to burn UA miles first as I already have over 500k.
