Qantas Brisbane Domestic Business Lounge

Interesting. The last time I was BNE Dom J, I left to go to the QPub which had party pies as the J lounge had nothing hot that wasnt vego (just pumpkin soup).
So I was passing through BNE last week and I remembered conversation about the QP being better with catering than J. Now to be fair it was mid arvo, but honestly there was next to nothing in the QP apart from the usual salad and sandwich bits and bobs, and I think soup. ie pretty much the same as J and J seemed to have some extras (and cantina had some bites but I didn't go look due to time). so... I was a little surprised.

but again, that was mid afternoon so perhaps a little different to more lunch/dinner timings.

Shepherd's Pie today with a "middle eastern" salad:

Wow, that's pure Neil Perry culinary genius there.
Takes a visionary chef to deliver that.
I wonder if that's served in his restaurants, or it's only exclusive to the brisvegas lounge.

AJ probably serves it with caviar at his Woolloomooloo soirees.

Seriously though - was it served hot? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I noticed on recent visits that there has been no dragon standing at the J lounge entrance podium, even in the morning. More than a few were taking a chance to come in as the other desk further along was busy and not watching the entrance..

Looks far more appetising than the sausages swomming in brown water that VA lounge in BNE had the other day. Must be QLD snag week or something...

The chicken miso was pretty good last night. There was also Penfolds X Thienot Champagne Brut Rosé available which was very nice!

Last week I was in the Qantas Brisbane Domestic lounge .I haven't been in the Brisbane lounge for several years as I usually fly north, I am on Virgin. It's been extensively renovated since my last visit but I can't say I like it. Everything the bar, food etc is a long way from the seating. The seating is strangely all pushed off to the side, a rather long L shape with a view of a car park and drop off zone. The decor is an overdose of brown and beige. The food was fairly pedestrian and bland.Yes they still have the Miso. The food hasn't improved since Joyce departed.I have been a member long enough to remember life before the toast your own sandwiches.
As I had come off a southbound flight and had over 2 hours to wait and had another long flight in front of me I used the showers. The showers were the best part of the lounge, clean, spacious and plenty of towels.
Well maybe I have been spoiled by too many Friday afternoons in the Sydney Business Lounge.

BNE J lounge is weird, if the “cantina” thing is operating then the food offerings are fine - if not it’s only the buffet which in my experience is usually very sparse - worst of all the J lounges - most annoying part is the “cantina” thing seems to operate on an inconsistent basis as far as I can see.

The Cantina thing was open and served meatballs on dry Turkish bread, nothing special.
You are right about the buffet. It was fairly lacklustre. Anyhow I will be back in the BNE J lounge in a couple of months, maybe by late autumn the menu will have improved.

The BNE J lounge is always variable and apart from the cantina and a stew is much the same as the QPub. The QP has self-serve wine but you have to queue for wine in the J lounge. Choice is identical in both. The QPub sometimes has items in the buffet which are not in J, eg. beetroot and mayo. I would say the BNE J lounge is style over substance.
